A lot of art hiring managers drive me up a wall hiring illustrators that burn themselves out doing an art test on time.

And then they can't deliver concepts that solve actual problems with decent turnaround.

Yikes! Fully rendered stuff is not what I'm looking for when I'm checking concept artists.

Alla prima at most, I'm way more concerned with the process and how economically you can solve for either:
- design issues and readability
or
- mood and lighting

depending on the role and task.

I played some co-op Space Marine 2 with one kid and Power Wash 2 with another kid and another kid showed me the Resident Evil 4 Remake and I talked about playing the original at launch and I love having games being a generation thing in my family. i didn't have that growing up. I mean, any veteran game designer is immediately overqualified as a Product Manager in any other industry.

But crafting a resume to show that is a skill in its own.

Then you have to survive interviews about stuff no one cares about, then somehow focus on the dumbest things for ~15 hours a week.

There's no financial incentive for properly building and staffing contract & co-dev houses.

The only reason to do it is morals and morale. And with millions (yes) of juniors desperate to work in games, the morale factor weighs less.

So, fire + hire cycle. It will only end when we unionize.

I'm renaming our QA tracker immediately.
