Agreed. Restaurant and ground floor retail is probably even more interesting. The demand patterns for 500k sqft of office space vs residential are totally different.

Commute mode for Census Tract 8391 (Chicago Loop)

Commute mode for Census Tract 8391 (Chicago Loop)

Are there any studies on transit trip generation per sqft of downtown office vs residential?
I wonder what transit usage trends look like for Loop residents who have excellent access and are mostly using it for non-commute trips.

We have finally invented a car that goes the speed limit [derogatory]

I would like to know how the Autonomous vehicles handle this.

Are Waymos going to be flying down narrow residential one-ways at 30mph since that’s the speed limit? Are they going to bottleneck interstate speeding by only going the limit?

I think Divvy has consistently been over 1M/month in the summer the last couple years if you include scooter rides. Would be awesome to see bikes get their on their own.

Chicago Data – Rob Paral & Associates

Rob Paral has all the historical census data by community area. 2020 is just from CMAP I think. Made this two years ago so I’d have to double check.

For future reference I usually cite my sources in the bottom right corner of my graphs!

I’ll re-up this sometime to see how much growth has occurred over there just from 2020 to today.
