How many of them have electric outlets for the fans? Or do they all require stinky, noisy gas generators to pollute the parks?

S.F. is obsessed with Waymo while human drivers are killing people OPINION: “It happens” might be the closest thing San Francisco has to an official policy on traffic deaths. Why, then, are officials so focused on Waymo’s safety, William Riggs asks.

How many pedestrian were killed that same day in Nashville, Austin and Atlanta by human drivers? And what is the plan to prevent those deaths?

We should maybe apply the same standard to human drivers, no?

Professor Riggs at USF asks why we apply so much scrutiny to Waymo while ignoring the epidemic of fatalities caused by human drivers. Unsafe streets, no enforcement and no outrage. #VisionZero is just empty talk.

Earth Day Cleanup - April | City of Berkeley Join us every third Saturday of the month to help clean the litter off our shorelines.Plastic pollution is a huge problem on our shorelines. Plastic does not biodegrade, instead it breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces which end up being mistaken as food by wildlife. Join us and spend some time volunteering to keep our Estuary clean and beautiful!

Reminder: Earth Day Shoreline Cleanup is tomorrow at Shorebird Park.
Come for 30 minutes or stay the full time, every bit helps.

After three pedestrian deaths in 10 days, Hayward adopts safer streets plan Council moves long-term road safety program forward as Bay Area downtowns confront pedestrian deaths.

It's sadly predictable that dangerous street designs kill people. Yet cities feel the need to wait for a body count before taking fixing their mistakes.

Latest example is Hayward, where 3 pedestrians were killed in the last 10 days.

Yes! Transportation is the other side of the housing coin. You can’t increase density and expect everyone to own a car. When cities promote housing they need to promote transportation solutions.

They heard that about a hundred times. Not sure it had any effect. Maybe at least they'll put some lighting under the trees so it's not like a tunnel at night.

Which Oakland streets saw the most speed camera warnings? The most dangerous roads appear to be Broadway and 73rd Avenue, according to new cameras that automatically issue speeding tickets.

Oakland has starting issuing tickets from their speed cameras. In the warning period a section of Foothill Blvd saw speeding of 19 mph over the limit (44 in a 25 zone). Will they now redesign the road to slow people down?

I am so fucking sick of the both-sidesing that keeps happening re: Hopkins bike lanes. Pro-street safety folks want the city to try harder to keep them from dying and the pro-parking people want to keep parking in front of their destinations for free forever. These things are not the same.

Make Hopkins Street Safe for ALL! On April 15, Berkeley City Council Facilities, Infrastructure, Transportation, Environment & Sustainability (FITES) Committee will weigh in on a proposal several Councilmembers have put forward to repave Hopkins Street without any bike or transit infrastructure improvements. Act now to urge the FITES committee to instead recommend repaving Hopkins with pedestrian, bike, and transit improvements, as approved in an earlier 8-1 council vote. We can't afford to miss this opportunity. Protected bike lanes on Hopkins will provide critical low-stress bicycle connections to schools and other key destinations for people of all ages and abilities. If the City does not create those connections when the street is repaved, there will continue to be a significant gap in the City’s low-stress bike network, likely for decades. Send the committee a letter now to let them know that making Hopkins Street safe for ALL is important to you.

🚨Hopkins Street🚨

With an important Council committee vote coming on April 15, it's time, yet again, to speak up for pedestrian🚶‍♀️, bicycle 🚲, and transit 🚌 improvements on Hopkins!
