Last month I was tremendously saddened to learn of the passing of Lew Smoley, one of the world’s greatest Mahler experts. In addition to his many publications, Lew was the President of the Gustav Mahler Society of New York for decades. I will miss him and our fascinating conversations.

A great honor to interview Marin Alsop last night at Carnegie Hall!

We discussed her upcoming Mahler cycle with PENTATONE, her thoughts on Alma Mahler, and interpretive details of Mahler's Fifth Symphony.

Very excited to have her as part of the cast for Season 5 of Embrace Everything!

On Saturday evening, before the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra's performance of Mahler 2, I had the pleasure of recording three interviews backstage: mezzo soprano Kate Lindsey, conductor Manfred Honeck, and recording producer Dirk Sobotka. Watch for these interviews in upcoming episodes!

I heard two beautiful Mahler 2 concerts by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Manfred Honeck this weekend. The gem of both performances was the truly GLORIOUS rendition of "Urlicht" by the astounding Kate Lindsey. So moving and so powerful!

Attended two glorious performances of Mahler 2 in Philadelphia! Yannick led the Philadelphia Orchestra with soloists Joyce DiDonato and Ying Fang. Highlights included a super intense first movement, a beautifully elegant second movement, a transcendent "Urlicht" and an ending that had me in tears.
