Sending sympathy.
It’s not quite Easter Sunday but hopefully not too soon to share Easter Greetings: Pask Lowen Oll! And a special welcome to Cornwall for the St Endellion Spring Festival, launching today with a Come & Sing event.
Meur ras, thank you and reciprocated from Cornwall!
Where will you be singing them? Somewhere in the USA perhaps 😉?
Disorientating as it may be to put the clocks forward, it's cheering to realise that the drive to rehearsal tonight will be made in daylight!
The life of a choir goes on: farewell Drayton, hello Dvorak!
We did have a great sing. Drayton wrote it to be a fast moving story and it is. But very demanding for the soloists, and one of them was a last minute step in who had to learn it in three days. Toi toi to Patrick Keefe who really rose to that challenge!
Last night we sang Paul Drayton’s Passion of Christ as told by Mark the Evangelist. Does that count?
Meur ras, thank you, we did!
Realised I didn’t make clear in my last post that we were facing our one rehearsal with the orchestra. Sorry about that, band! And you were in very good form.
Sending good wishes from Truro as we line up in the crypt for our own concert tonight!
Glad to hear all is well visually. And meur ras, thanks for your good wishes. Final rehearsal starting soon, our first and only opportunity to practise with them before performance tonight!
And it's concert day! Blessed with a fine morning here in Cornwall and a good forecast for the whole weekend, so for once performers and audience will not have to trudge into Truro in the rain. Do come and join us! Tickets available on the door if still needed.
Wishing you a successful concert!
And to you, Helen. We hope you are recovering well from your cataract surgery!
Laura Newey, soprano, trained originally as a pianist before discovering singing at university. Based in London, she is now developing a portfolio career of solo, consort and choral singing. She is a member of Tenebrae and St Martin’s Voices and has also sung with Voces8. 🧵 5/5
Oliver Morris, bass, was a choral scholar at Cambridge, where he also studied German and Classics. He then studied medicine and now aspires to a hybrid career in music, research and clinical practice. He has been a regular member of Tenebrae Choir since 2018. 🧵 4/5
Patrick Keefe, baritone, studied at Oxford, the Guildhall and the Royal Academy of Music. He is currently a Harewood Artist at English National Opera. We are very grateful to Patrick for joining us at short notice following the untimely death of Robert Rice. 🧵 3/5
Stephen Jeffes, tenor, is a contemporary music specialist and a full time member of the Exaudi ensemble. He sang with the BBC Singers until Spring 2025, which means he may have sung at the Hall for Cornwall celebration of their centenary in 2024, compered by our President, Petroc Trelawny. 🧵 2/5
We are proud to announce the soloists for our forthcoming performance of Paul Drayton’s St Mark Passion on Saturday 21st March. Tickets are still available from the Minack Box Office minack.com/whats-on/pau... and on the door before the concert. 🧵 1/5
Final Monday rehearsal before concert day. Hope all members are summoning their most venomous vibes for the trial scene! And tomorrow, hopefully, there will be news of our wonderful line-up of soloists.
It’s very tiring being venomous!
Two Monday rehearsals to concert. Last week our composer told us to be more venomous. Should be an interesting evening ... 🐍
Chons da! Wishing you successful surgery next week and hoping you’ll be able to come and see us better than ever in July.
Meur ras! Ha ty, and to you!
St Piran's Day today, a significant day in Cornwall and there will be much singing in his honour tonight at local "shouts". We wish all our supporters Dydh Gool Peran Lowen, happy St Piran's day!
Thanks. Always feels odd to find ourselves at the forefront of breaking news.
We are sorry we had to be your source for this sad news. We may appear to be a long way from most UK musical action but our aim to be a platform for excellent soloists keeps us in the loop. I assure you we understand your sense of loss and we share it.
Thanks for coming, Paul. This was very helpful preparation for our concert on 21st March and we hope you will be happy with our performance on the day. See you there! 🧵 5/5
