Standing in my kitchen eating a chocolate egg and sipping coffee I just hand ground and brewed pour over. It's been a long day of meetings, and I needed the breather.
Told my son reading on his iPad didn't count towards his daily screen time. He took that to heart, and proceeded to read the rest of Andy Weir's Artemis before proudly stating he'd use his daily screen time for Minecraft with friends.

I should dust off my birding lens and go outside more this year. It’s been a long time. Admittedly, I let myself forget the joy of capturing the moment.
I say this often but it bears repeating: if you make your money from creating art then you NEED to find an art or craft where you just do it for fun and don't try to be perfect or make any money from it, and when anyone tells you to monetise it you say 'No', because otherwise your soul will die.
So, Ali and I went to see Six the musical so we've been listening to the cast recording. This has lead to having to explain Henry VIII's wives, how they died, and why the king was so mean. Kudos to my kids for being aware of women's struggles but also… they love Don't Lose Your Head. 😅

I've wanted to write something similar but didn't have the spoons, and stumbled across it today so I figured I'd share for anyone that missed it.
My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.
We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.
We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.
Hour or two from Lincoln Square, and more hikey than walk. I want to see something pretty and work for it.
Thinking about doing some day hikes or maybe a tiny backpacking trip this fall. Something about wilding myself just sounds like a good plan right now. Anyone have recs for some hikes near Chicago? 🥾
