Let us have "I am a dragon". We aren't harming anyone with it.
I guess if you really wanted to dig into it, therianism and otherkin are a comfortable identity, embedded now in communities focused on self-expression and self-discovery.
It feels like an easy target. But it isn't. And boy howdy, does that piss certain types of people off.
I feel I should otherwise have more to say because uh. I resemble this remark (from the original post).
But all it really does is loop a lot of very old conversations in my head that summarize: "whatever, I'm still me no matter how weird that is."
And I find that comforting, somehow.
I mean, a lot of the manufactured hate is WASPy (at least in the anglosphere), so part of that rolls up into "it's vaguely pagan, therefore EVIL".
But specific folks used their megaphone in the early days to specifically amplify that hate, and I have enough spite to be glad we outlived them.
I will say: it's been extremely helpful that the fandom, for the most part, has become much accepting of therianism and otherkin over the years. And vice versa. And that society has become more accepting over time.
Sure, there's still assholes and fascists. But we've come farther than I dared hope.

Yeah same. I just kind of assumed this must be how it was everywhere.
We got to know quite a few of the local shop owners though. Including the absolute heroes that served everyone hot pizza the day after Hurricane Wilma, since they had a gas and wood bake setup that didn't require power.
Folks other places cannot comprehend the power of the strip mall restaurants along US-1 or down by Town and Country. Absolutely something I miss too.
DT has a lot of cozy art history in its worldbuilding, I really enjoyed it.

i was just in a full 80 person stage instance full of furies watching the artemis ii splashdown and it had a production member messing with stage lighting and effects coordinated with flight phases. im living a future these people coudnt dream of
