Ten years ago today, in April 2016, the Boston Globe printed a satirical front page imagining a future Trump administration. The page was called "alarmist," "hyperbolic," "dystopian." But we’ve put up with so much since then it now looks like . . . a slow Thursday?
We live so embubbled, with such short attention spans and memories, that this will quickly become normalized. Iran will control the Strait of Hormuz, Americans will pay more and Republicans will convince people that Trump won a historic victory and it was always this way. The media will help them.
And to think Trump and the GOP scuttled Obama's nuclear deal with Iran for this far, far worse outcome while also making America a global pariah

Trump says his war is more important than daycare. The $200 billion he wants to bomb Iran could cover a full year of daycare for 14 million kids.
This is a statement on priorities, and for Trump, America comes last.
In one month, Trump has spent $25 billion on his war with Iran.
That could have paid for:
–A year of school lunch for 30M kids
–A year of health care for 3.1M Americans
–Housing for 3.1M Americans
–A year of child care for 1.8M kids

UPDATE: Staff at the ICE concentration camp in Dilley, Texas have begun raiding the dormitories of kids and their parents to confiscate and destroy letters from the children. This is in response to the ace reporting by @micarosenberg et al for ProPublica:

I think maybe the remarkable part is that the US Attorney tried to indict six Democratic elected officials (and veterans) who made a video saying that everyone should follow the law.

I look forward to supporting her in the April general election. It is essential that we send a Democrat to Washington to fill this seat, not a rubber stamp for Trump. Analilia deserves unequivocal praise and credit for running a positive campaign and for inspiring so many voters on Election Day. But the outcome of this race cannot be understood without also taking into account the massive flood of dark money that AIPAC spent on dishonest ads during the last three weeks. I wish I could say today that this effort, which was meant to intimidate Democrats across the country, failed in NJ-11. But it did not. If AIPAC backs a candidate - openly or surreptitiously - in the June NJ-11 Congressional primary, I will oppose that candidate and urge my supporters to do so as well. The threat unlimited dark money poses to our democracy is far more significant than the views of a single member of Congress on Middle East policy. I am proud of the joyful and substantive campaign my team and I ran, and am immensely grateful to the volunteers and staff who made it possible. ICE is running a “conveyor belt” of illegally detained Minnesota families.
Agents are arresting entire families with legal status and immediately shipping them off to Texas to deny them legal representation and avoid the federal courts in Minnesota.
The cruelty is endless.

Trump's federal secret police will continue to abuse and execute innocent people in the street until state and local law enforcement begin arresting them for violation of state law.

If you work for ICE, there's no denying that's the mission you're supporting now. You don't get to claim in one year or ten or twenty that you didn't know what ICE was doing. You're complicit.

Much of what is wrong with the Dem Party can fixed by exiling Future Forward and its advisors into outer space and never listening to them again.
