"Friendly fire" is one of the military’s terms designed to soften the impact of grim reality of what it describes, much like "officer-involved shooting" does as it distances police from their actions. News media should do better than to parrot these terms. Do your job. Call things what they are.

Normal people: the courts are very serious interpreters of the law

The courts: go ahead, impersonate the feds

This is your periodic reminder that Democrats introduced legislation in 2021 to ban gerrymandering nationwide and every republican voted against it except two who were absent.

How fitting that I had the worst bout of insomnia in at least a month last night before seeing Fight Club on the big screen tonight

The CFPB took a major step backward, issuing a rule that eviscerates fair lending protections under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), dealing a devastating blow to the many people who face discrimination when they seek credit. www.nclc.org/cfpb-guts-fa...

I don’t want to be tested. I dont want to feel like some kind of lab rat. I want to be respected and feel like I am working with genuine, trustworthy people

I miss doing good work that I enjoy, fun coworkers, genuine camaraderie; I do not miss the weird and annoying office dynamics from management that end up wearing me down over time

One thing I don’t miss about the workplace are tests to see how I’ll respond. I am so sensitive to that shit like don’t be weird just tell me what you want?!??! Never experienced it til I moved to the PNW & maybe it’s just cuz people are more direct on the east coast, idk

I used a bike rack this weekend that exists because I complained about it not existing.

You can make things better, even just a little.

I almost shared one of his articles and wanted to check the name. And was like 🤔

A journalist of that caliber would have extensive experience elsewhere

There doesn’t seem to be a specific beat, and the amount of articles per day is too vast to be real. Like, it’s gotta be fake.

Cassian Holt – Morning Overview

I think MSN may be using AI fake “journalists” to produce articles. An author under the name Cassian Holt has an insane amount of bylines that seems inhuman, and I don’t immediately see any record of him otherwise. Only MSN. KINDA WEIRD. morningoverview.com/author/cassi...

a cloud is painted on a brick wall with the words it 's hard to stay mad Alt: a bag floats in the wind against a brick wall with the words it 's hard to stay mad when there’s so much beauty in the world

Basically this. Except ya know, nature, and not a plastic freakin bag lmao

I honestly almost teared up standing there watching the waves crash. No cellphone service. People were so fucking happy. Ugh it was a beautiful moment. I felt like the dude from American Beauty watching that bag float around in the wind 😂

God, today was soul cleansing. My brain feels so much better after spending the day outside with my dog and husband, among other people and their dogs, on a stunningly beautiful beach with roaring waves and a gentle breeze. I did not know how much I needed that.

Absolutely lovely day at the Oregon coast today. 10/10. Oswald West State Park is one of the first places on the coast I ever visited before moving here, and it still has the best vibes.

By a wide margin the least offensive thing about John Fetterman is refusing to wear a suit. I find it telling when people rage about it- who cares. Let's focus on the fact he has turned into a garbage human.

And honestly, shredding the illusion of decorum in that worthless senate is ok.

Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?

Throw a sandwich at a cop? You might do jail time.

Cop intentionally shoots and kills a child? Identity kept secret, gets to keep doing job.

A professionally trained sniper “accidentally” shoots a 2-year-old little girl through the head.

Thankful for these news outlets pursuing the truth and uncovering the identity of this POS.

Yikes, seeing some real sociopathic-sounding posts about “let rural America die” and yall I get it’s frustrating but there are still good people in those areas (including my family) and they absolutely still deserve support and attention. sheesh

I mean, in general I’m fine — I enjoy camping and the outdoors and their existence doesn’t occupy much thought. But I would still much prefer they not cross direct paths with me where I dwell/sleep.

The best we can all do is minimize suffering. hopefully future generations will be more educated about bugs and therefore less conditioned to being scared of them. Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll ever reach a point of being totally zen around all bugs.

Made the apparent mistake of educating myself about the current science around insect sentience and I think our creepy crawly homies got feelings

It makes sense and isn’t surprising to me honestly. That being said, I still don’t want spiders and their egg sacs decorating our door frame.
