Dear America, I'm Canadian, and even from across the border I can tell your gentlest people are doing the heaviest lifting. They are feeding people, protecting people, defending people, comforting people, organizing people, and carrying a country that keeps calling their pain politics. If America has a soul left, it is living inside the people who refuse to stop caring. Your cruelest people may have the microphone right now, but your best people still have the moral weight.
We're terrible neighbors right now, and it hurts to keep caring. Care anyway. You are needed.

We Americans have a hard time seeing ourselves in the world, and so even when we want to criticize our fascist oligarchs we fail to see the international networks of which they are nodes.

Donald Trump has done more damage to the United States of America than any foreign enemy accomplished in our nation’s 250-year history.

All went well. Wonderful turnout and so inspiring. Great vibe here like usual. It's a small town with an inclusive and caring community. Thanks for your message. I do agree with your point and if this was a different situation she would have stayed home for safety. 🩷

Thank you! I'm honored, but probably should send my application in anyway. 😊 It's going to take months, but worth the wait. No wonder I've always felt Canadian. According to the amended law evidently I was, and am! Just needed to prove it with a direct descendant chart and copies of vital documents.

Thank you! Hopefully soon I'll be able to add the Canadian flag to my name too! I'm applying for citizenship by descent (Bill C-3) thanks to my Canadian great-grandmother. No plans to move, but to honor my Canadian ancestors giving my children and grandchildren a bridge to their Canadian heritage.

Thanks, and I understand why it could be an issue and do appreciate your concern. I know my dog's personality and live in a tiny town. Our protests here are joyful, inspirational celebrations, and have never been confrontational. If there's a different vibe this time, we'll leave immediately.

Brown dog standing on wood deck wearing a pink tutu and pink polka dot neck decoration, plus a sign that says "No Kings! More Princesses!"
My sign for tomorrow is all ready. So is my sign holder.

Oregon Grape plant growing outside. Bright yellow flower cluster. Deep green glossy leaves with spiky edges like holly.
Just discovered Oregon Grape growing in my backyard! I thought they were young holly trees until the bright yellow flowers bloomed this week. There are at least 4-5 of them growing in the same area, near a few holly trees along a fence line. #gardening #nativeplants #PNW #birdplanted #nature

Interesting! Are they also called Empress trees there? I love their lavender spring blooms. One of my Paulownia trees is huge and looks like a gigantic lilac when in bloom. Our family had a Calalpa tree in our backyard in Illinois when I was a kid. Wonderful shade tree. 🙂

Nice photo! Crows are so smart and very cool. I have two Paulownia trees in my backyard in the US PNW. Quite messy trees, but a wise master gardener told me long ago that nature is messy. Very true. I love them. 🥰

A big part of the authoritarian playbook is war. War takes over the news. War blots out criticism. War divides a nation’s people, subjecting those against it to being called unpatriotic. War grants leaders all sorts of emergency powers. War consumes everything else.
We mustn’t let this war do so.
