That’s a lovely story. One problem is that you don’t get a paper ticket these days, so if you get off before they do there is no proof that they paid. I have not seen an inspector in several years now, however, so maybe proof isn’t needed!

www.timeshighereducation.com/news/uk-univ... yes, but ... if we were market stall holders.. you said we could only sell apples for 50p. and it didn't matter how much inflation was, 50p was the price. but you also said we could sell peaches for as much as we like, because the price of apples was.. 1.
The Scottish Government recently aired its proposals for reforming community rights to buy in Scotland. Here's my blog post that seeks to distil and comment on the various recommendations (and indeed non-recommendations). basedrones.wordpress.com/2026/04/13/c...

Cover of Legal Education in the Classroom: The transformative potential of community engaged teaching and learning by Suzanne Egan, Deirdre McGillicuddy and Alison Struthers. Beige cover with coloured pencils.
Available for pre-order now, should legal education be your bag...or maybe you have budget to use up before year end?
Oh, wait, nobody has budget anymore.
But, available in paperback, not prohibitively expensive, & hopefully useful!
That's my pitch!

Yes, I know that. However, there are about 10 reports to one actual obstruction in my experience.

Lucky third guess!
I am hosting a party for 3 year olds and worrying that my floors are not clean enough. This is the very definition of madness.
Mostly harmless, so long as you are not ordering them to eat, though I understand they are mainly ok for humans but not so much for pets. However, ice cream is better at 2 a.m for humans.
Our recent experience is an example. Husband and I both from similar backgrounds, parents had 3 bed semis in nice areas. Mine died of sudden causes before needing any care. One of his parents spent several years in care. My family have large inheritance, his get virtually nothing.
This has reminded me to say how much I enjoyed Vianne - which I bought last time it was on special offer!
Together with my good colleague and friend, Prof. Mark Bennett of the Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand (people.wgtn.ac.nz/mark.bennett), I am today inaugurating a new podcast about trusts law, trusts practice and trusts research, called "Trusts Talk".
Just a quick heads up that the ebook of Venetian Gothic is a bargain 99p for just one day only in the UK!

Oh no! I bet you still talk about it, though! I think everyone pulling together to carry on despite the weather can be quite uplifting … or maybe I am just trying to convince myself!
I have been preparing to host my granddaughter’s birthday party in my garden on Saturday. I had the patio jet washed and everything! The weather forecast now indicates that the party will actually be in my lounge. A dozen preschoolers, high on excitement and sugar. Sodding British weather!
