This is my equivalent of the “Tom Holland doing ‘Umbrella’ video. Anytime Black Thought spitting fire for ten minutes shows up in the timeline I’m absolutely going to watch it again

The man has been going to space for five decades and lived on three different celestial bodies and he’s been the most insufferable stubborn man-baby on all of them

We’re two in and will stick with it for at least one more. At its peak (season 2) it was brilliant so I want to keep giving it a chance to get back there.

Trying to get into the new season of For All Mankind but I’m not sure how much more I can take of Ed Baldwin, one of the most obnoxious characters in television history

I use that intersection every weekday, and it’s one of the worst around for drivers nosing forward and blocking the crosswalk while trying to turn right on red. A lot of drivers only check for pedestrians as an afterthought.

People who suddenly feel like their transphobic “jokes” and “fairness in sports” takes are a bad look while the government forcibly detransitions people don’t get to say “oh that’s not what I meant!” You did mean it! People told you what it meant and you did it anyways!

I don’t think a blanket social media ban for anyone under 16 is the best approach, and once again I am baffled by people who can fret about the internet’s effect on kids with one breath and cheerlead for AI with the next

I watched episode 7 of The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins on the exercise bike this morning and there are a couple of parkour sight gags that have made me chuckle all day whenever I think about them. Daniel Radcliffe is great at physical comedy and really giving 100% on that show.

Shrinking season 3 is one of the best seasons of a comedy I've seen in a while. Jessica Williams and Harrison Ford deserve awards.

I couldn’t agree more. And this part, just marinating in a story and letting it take up space in your brain, feels harder lately for so many reasons. *Insert meme of kid on swing set with raging inferno in the background*

After an exhausting week to end an exhausting month, I took the afternoon off and had one of the best naps I’ve ever had in my life. A top-5 all-timer, at least. A good nap is a beautiful thing.

“A grand human waste for no other reason than the waste itself”

That is literally the only qualification to calling yourself a writer, but it’s a non-negotiable one. If you don’t love the actual process of writing enough to do it yourself, you’re not a writer.

the process is part of the work. it’s not supposed to be easy. the effort creates good work. i can’t believe this needs to be explained to people who call themselves journalists.

If you grow up Black in Nova Scotia, you get used to older Black folks asking, “Who are your parents?” My cousin and I dropped this question on a high school kid at pickup ball last night and I realized, “This is an official threshold. We have become The Uncles.”

This is another case where someone who says "let kids be kids" really means "we must legislate an idealized version of my own childhood, specifically"

I accompanied S to Costco (I don’t like going to Costco) and she sent me to the fancy dip aisle to pick myself out one (1) treat. I’m fully aware this is a motivational tactic we used on the children when they were small but I’m OK with that. I can fully be bought with smoked Gouda dip.

Re: my last reposts

“Do not put money in the pocket of a woman who has sworn publicly to use it to disenfranchise vulnerable populations” is the smallest ask imaginable. It’s not oxygen, it’s not food. It’s television. You can do without. There are thousands of other shows for you to watch.

One of my favourite possessions last night was when he dove down the middle, drew two defenders and created a wide-open 3 for Devin Vassell without ever touching the ball. He has more gravity on both ends than anyone in the league, and he’s really getting creative in how he uses it.

Thinking about existential crisis that is AI and all of the technological progress that has brought us to now, from harnessing fire, inventing the wheel, to all we take for granted today.

And it's just... the culmination of human technological progress cannot be the outsourcing of thought itself.

This is the disconnect that baffles me. I can't understand how some of the same people who insist that teens should be restricted from social media think it's not only fine but essential to give them full access to a different technology with clear, demonstrated dangers.

I believe that if you love writing, you can call yourself a writer whether you’re published or not. The only rule is you have to love it enough to embrace the struggle and work through the hard parts. If you’re using AI, you don’t love it enough, and you’re not a writer.
