Level 20 β 24: The final stretch. We stop building intensity and focus on carrying the player to the end.
We drop percussive elements to prevent ear fatigue and introduce sweeping violins. π»
Level 10 β 14: Guitar & harp join in. The shift is so gradual the player barely registers it consciously.
Level 15 β 19: Velocity increases. Supporting layers enter, making the track feel full, alive and complete πΆ
Level 0 β 4: Pure ambient soundscape. No instruments yet. We want players to take a deep breath and chill. π
Level 5 β 9: The first touch of music. A subtle flute and sparse piano notes gently fade in.
The core is an "intensity" float parameter in FMOD, driven by the number of completed levels in Unity.
But itβs not just vertical layering! It mutes elements, triggers alternate loop endings, and even reacts to the weather π§οΈ
Puzzle games rarely need complex audio systems, but for our game, immersion is key. π§
We built a dynamic music system where the soundtrack actually evolves as you progress through a biome.
