I could make an entire thread on how much some of the remake designs irk me, and Jill's is the worst, so many little things that make the design so much worse than either OG or RE1R 🫠

Obscure 2 and both Outbreaks were my introduction to classic survival horror on the PS2 as a kid
Both Obscures are legit solid classic survival horror experiences, I also love how intensely 00s they are
They kinda went under the radar and never get brought up tho, I guess they really were *obscure*

That was my exact thought after finishing and like halfway through the game, 7-8 were great brand new additions, drawing in the new audience and going in a new direction

I'm gonna have to also recommend Holstin, mostly because it's one of the only demos I've even played.
Crow Country style isometric survival horror, spooky, puzzles, and an RE4 style OTS aiming system. It's weird but it's good.

the whole leveling up thing though feels so... arcade-y, much more fit for Raid mode than the main game, it's one of those things that makes me think ''yeah this is a 2010s game''
glad they kept the other mechanics except that one, can you imagine having to level up to unlock Leon's roundhouse kick?

I actually remember I had such a good time with the game I did some fanart of it almost immediately after finishing it|

One of the highlight areas of my last playthrough of this game when I was doing my own little marathon in 2023
so many of Barry's areas are super tense, these apartments, the forest, the abandoned factory, the fake mansion at the end, they really wanted to bring back that horror aspect

really useful to keep logs of my thoughts on these games, comes very handy in situations like these lol

It's so interesting though, how much Rev 2 DNA is still in the modern games
7 was the culmination of the Rev games' philosophy of going back to the horror roots, and the Remakes polished the gameplay further, 4R is straight up Rev 2, with the crafting, stealth and everything
Really underrated game

It really does need to be commended though that this little 3DS game that came out a year before RE6 at a time where RE was more action than horror actually did a pretty good job!
Jill's sections are all delightfully spooky and survival horror-y, all the others? Yeah, I didn't care for those...
