Unless it's to something like a local cooperative, so the returns get distributed/reinvested in the community.

I read this to my wife with the emphasis in all the wrong places. Much timey-wimey confusion resulted.

Disingenuous headline. Not an attack on the farm but on the ownership model.

So the European Entry and Exit System (EES) at Faro is running on...checks notes: Windows 10.

On an Asus-PC based kiosk.

I know this because the mugshot process failed and it fell out of kiosk mode so I rebooted it via the touchscreen.

I don't know why this is so hard for some people to grasp. If we extend our use of fossil gas, rather than going all-out for grid batteries, heat pumps and induction hobs, we extend our dependence on *foreign* sources of gas, regardless of whether we also use the UK's last remaining reserves. 🧡

Perhaps you're counting the wrong things. GDP bears no relation to how well off you are as an individual. Go and count the number of food banks.

Feeling accomplished today. I bought some IKEA Rodret wireless light switches. Unfortunately the off button on one of them broke after a couple of weeks. Have just successfully desoldered the old one and resoldered on a new one (from JeffCo) and avoided making yet more e-waste πŸ€“

BOOM!
South Australia's power prices have plummeted as they near 100% renewables, proving to the world that relying on wind and solar with battery back-up is possible, more reliable and costs people less.

THIS is how we avoid the next oil crisis.

Didn't they blow up a small part of AZ to recreate exactly the same cratering pattern as the intended landing area for one of the Apollo missions so the astronauts could practice? So maybe your parents weren't entirely wrong.

All cars have got heavier. Current VW Golf is heavier than the og by ~400kg, about the same as driving around with 4 large passengers. The electric VW ID.3 is heavier again by about the same. Diesels are heavier than petrol equivalents, ~100kg in the case of the Ford S-Max. Efficiency vs road wearπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
