It will never not bother me how often when you’re talking to someone — in life, for work, w/e — who is struggling that that person works in healthcare. Nurses, orderlies, home health aids, people who draw blood, etc
I don't know who needs to know this, but Pro Publica has an online thing that will format a letter to your US health insurance company to demand the records behind a claim denial. (which the insurance is then legally required to provide in most cases)

two pictures beside each other: an owl perched on a branch, one talon holding a toy horsehead stick, and the other picture shows the owl mid-flight with the stick, which from afar looks like a witch-mounted broom, her cloak billowing behind her
friendly reminder one time an owl stole a toy horse and people thought witches were flying around town
I don't want to talk to a chat bot. I don't want to use AI to respond to a message. I don't want to download an app. I don't want to connect my fridge to wifi. I don't want to connect my socials to my bank. I don't want to rent the thing I used to own. I don't want to get notifications on my phone.
A photo of a sculpture made of colored Sculpey Clay. The sculpture is based on the Richard Scarry drawing of 6 mice riding in a car made out of a triangle block of yellow Swiss cheese. The little happy mice poke their heads out of the holes in the cheese. It's really cute imo, he popped off when he drew this one. The entire sculpture is about three inches long and fits in the artist's hand.
Another angle of the same sculpture.

The original drawing by Richard Scarry. It has words under it that read "Have you ever seen a cheese car on the highway?" No Richard, I haven't, but I would cry from joy if I did.
I have made CHEESE BOYS
Oh wow! She is so talented! These are wonderful. So sorry she’s been going through such a difficult time.
Just beautiful. Thank you!
Moonlit snowy cottage looks so peaceful 🌙❄️

An image of me pointing to a closet full of Enfamil cans of various types and colors.
If you're struggling financially due to government fuckery or for any reason really and you need infant formula talk to your pediatrician we can hook you up and don't like to ask questions.
My “y”s and “z”s are sometimes printed and sometimes cursive and I wonder what makes my brain choose one or the other. I think it has to do with letter position in the word?
Agree about news. My other ideas: When I pick up my phone to scroll, open Libby instead. And new creative pursuits. I joined a stained glass workshop and love cutting glass. The focus and concentration, and the exciting moment when your glass snaps clean (hopefully!)
A photograph of a deserted pub car park surrounded by bare trees on a murky day: wet asphalt, grey sky. In the centre, next to a flumpy yellow cypress tree, are a litter bin and an ornamental lamppost who appear to be sharing a joke together. The head of the lamp is bent at an angle so it appears to be looking down at the bin whose lid has broken given it the appearance of a laughing face.
In January 2021, during the third national lockdown, I pulled into this deserted pub car park to turn the van round and found a lamppost and a bin engaged in lively conversation while they thought no one was looking. Incredible.
The Covid times were a tiny bit easier because David Lynch gave Angelenos the weather report on KCRW 🥲
I missed Holly Hobbie but was way into Strawberry Shortcake and her calico cat. I loved Apple Dumpling especially. I think her sidekick was a turtle?
This photo was blown into our yard during the Eaton Canyon fire. Anyone from Pasadena/Altadena recognize these people?
Oh Swistle! That sounds hard. Sending you good thoughts.
Sending so much gratitude to them
Thank you so much for the information. Heartbreaking.
I am so so sorry. I’ve been looking everywhere for news about Topanga. Is it gone? I’m so sorry. It is a very special place.
Ballymena, Northern Ireland.
Glad to hear you are ok! Sending healing vibes your way.
