Nothing in the world feels better to me than working hard to fill bellies. Not just cooking, either (though that & prep are my favorite parts). Even sweeping, mopping or in the dish pit I grin like a serene doofus for all the simple joy I'm feeling--for the first time in my working life, I think???

Because the King of the Hill intro song only plays the triangle when the bag of garbage is taking up the screen, from a young age the triangle has just been subconsiously filed away in my mind as the 'theme of trashbag' instrument

*sounds the feasting horn*

Oh for sure, alot of the older TV theme songs go *so* hard~! M*A*S*H and Night Court are two big faves.

Spent the afternoon working on a NES-style rendition of Al Hirt's "Java." Only felt appropriate to knock together a little gif of the Muppet version~ #chiptune #aseprite

spearheaded the feast this year! 2-day dry brined turkey, 5-vegetable garlic mash, roasted brussels & beets, an improvised sausage and rice casserole situation, yorkshire puddings, lotsa gravy, and pum-pecan pie~

managed to whip up the filling and serve while they were still warm and crunchy--i've wanted to try doing this for a while now tbh! a lot of effort, but not a bad way to spend a saturday afternoon~

i made tentojidon with the leftovers, and used a little mushroom-flavored dark shoyu for extra shroomami

the way the batter absorbs the tsuyu and the egg absorbs the flavor of the batter is irresistible...

it was absurdly light and crispy! would love to have you over for a tempura night sometime ☺️

made mushroom tempura with eryngii, shiitake and even a little matsutake~ and some chicken too! cured yolk shoyu for dipping.... i may have overdone it...

but i regret nothing 🤤

not too bad for my first time making ohagi, i think! i rolled them in freshly toasted sesame seeds and a touch of maple sugar for complexity (and also because the store was out of kinako)
