Fortunately, this problem is solvable and Pennsylvania is already making investments in reading proficiency. Children have a right to a quality education, and I will continue to fight for the educational progress children deserve.
Reading is the building block for everything we learn in life. If children have difficulty reading they will struggle solving word problems in math, struggle understanding history, science and social studies.
Drawing on my experience working with @PEMA, I spoke about the importance of supporting the mental health and well-being of the firefighters, EMS personnel, and law enforcement officers who keep our communities safe. RepFleming.com

I spoke with the Department of Health about the need to increase school health services reimbursements. While the number of students with complex medical needs and chronic conditions continues to rise, there’s no reason for these reimbursements to remain flat-funded. youtu.be/a1dAd17oamc
I spoke with the Governor’s Budget Office about pre-Act 9 retirees and COLAs. It’s important that our seniors get taken care of and receive these financial adjustments as the prices of everything continues to rise. I asked what these COLAs look like from a budgetary standpoint. youtu.be/pHQSA8apdvQ
During a #PABudget hearing, I asked PA State Police how they manage police coverage in smaller parts of the Commonwealth that might not have their own localized police force. youtu.be/_49wwlYMsc8

I’m sure not everybody watches the U.S. Supreme Court as much as I do. So, during our #PABudget hearings I wanted to get clarity on the difference in how our courts in the Commonwealth handle the decisions they hand down.

We’ve seen firsthand the difference recreation dollars can make around the district. I asked the leaders of DCNR what could be done if we made more investment in grants and programs to improve neighborhoods across the Commonwealth.

During a #PABudget hearing, I asked AG Dave Sunday what his office is doing to help process scammers and those found guilty of elder exploitation. youtu.be/F61E9e5O_9A
During Friday’s Senior Town Hall, I heard stories of horrific scam attacks right here in our community. Scammers are constantly trying to exploit seniors and steal their personal data and financial information. With the advancement of AI, it’s only getting worse.
I had the privilege of asking the Department of Corrections about the availability of 3D mammography for women going through the correctional system. I want to make sure women have access to the medical screenings they need to remain healthy while incarcerated. #PABudget youtu.be/YmdexQEmOiI
During the latest #PaBudget hearing, I had a chance to ask Department of Insurance Secretary Michael Humphreys about the fiscal impact that lower rates of Pennsylvanians with health insurance have on the Commonwealth.

The high price of insulin could determine life or death. That's why I support Rep. Jeanne McNeill's legislation to keep the life-saving medication affordable for all Pennsylvanians.

Reading is the foundation of success. I take every opportunity to advocate and fight for literacy because it's what our children need most. It’s also very personal. With sustainable resources, we can identify problems early and intervene to lift up our kids who are struggling.
