In Nordic countries social democratic concessions are falling and liberal parties are pushing for neoliberal austerity but that's emboldening a fascist movement from people who want fundamental change.

It's either socialism or descending into fascism.

The rich always claw back concessions and thwart any attempts to get more or keep the ones we have.

The only way for working people to actually win the class war is through organizing and trying to build a democratic socialism, a truce with the rich will never hold.

FDR was a social democrat, he saved capitalism through social programs and concessions from the rich. He also gutted the power of unions to fight capital with the NLRB.

After that came the red scare that ensured the rule of the rich over the working class wouldn't be threatened for generations.

It's planned alright just not for our sake.

They're building a capitalist Tower of Babble to try and reach capitalist heaven where labor is obsolete and capital controls everything alone

The good news is that they won't reach it and it'll come crashing down. The bad news is we'll be paying for it.

Absolutely, they'll probably keep the nationalism and racism but then change things up by advocating for social programs (without delivering) and act like the left is unreasonable for not forming a coalition with them.

Sadly I think it'll work pretty well in stealing momentum from the actual left.

Democrats should gerrymander if Republicans are and then get rid of gerrymandering nationwide after the crisis is averted.

It's because most capitalists don't believe the economy should try to make sure everyone is happy and well over profit/growth.

Social democrats will concede happiness and wellbeing for higher profits and growth when it comes down to it.

Growth/profits are important but they're not most important.

Corporate democrats won't actually fix the issues that made Trump or that Trump made, their donors don't want them to. The corporate Dems see the issues as things they can run on to fix but never do.

Corporate democrats work with Republicans and block progressives and Republicans take advantage of that to push pro corporate/oligarchy policy that over time erodes our democracy and the middle class.

It's not enough, we need far more substantial changes than those to fix this country, the next Republican would've just reversed it all.

Half measures like that and incremental reforms that immediately get taken away by the next admin are what created the apathy that led to Trump.

It shows she's just a neocon with no interest in fixing the problems with our country and how it operates internationally.

Dems might as well nominate Dick Cheney at that point.

This is why people don't vote. There's no hope for a better future in the candidates corporate Dems put forward.

It shows intent to continue imperialist wars of choice that creates adversaries in the first place.

We could operate internationally primarily through diplomacy like China or the EU and fund programs for our citizens at home that desperately need them.

I don't think reforming the Democrats is possible with so much corporate influence.

Once a non corporate party like DSA is popular enough, progressives and socialists should leave Dems behind so they can be the neo con/liberals they've always wanted to be and we can shift things leftward.
