That is the case. What is classed as 'forest' in national statistics is mostly not a forest ecosystem. A particular irony: in Scotland, conifer afforestation grants are called 'woodland creation'. They don't 'create' and it's not 'woodland'

I've paddled there too. And up the Black Water where we found evidence of beavers, before they were officially recorded. And we did get shouted at by some self-appointed representative of the landowners. Such a wonderful place to paddle.
