Effectively a martingale at this point.

will we see sector-wide insider buying by SW/SaaS mgmts & board members after the earnings blackout is over... I somehow trust that as a signal way more than whatever Orlando Bravo has to say.

a few yrs ago I joked that rich countries like the US should create SWFs where the govt automatically buys $10k of equal-weighted stock in TSMC and the 4 big semicaps every year for each US citizen minor til they reach 18. We might be moving closer to that vision, as crazy as that sounds.

the 'DeepSeek is a side-hustle' angle makes me imagine alternative universe where 20 years ago RenTec decides to troll the peanut gallery by offloading spare compute on (initially primitive) consumer-facing AI and writing AI arXiv papers

DeepSeek -> it's OVER for semiconductor trade (until it's not. or maybe it's not OVER in the first place and we're still BACKK. please watch this space carefully. or not.)

A few conference calls listening to Steve Angel and Matt White on one side and Seifi on the other at almost any point in the last 5 years and the result would have been perfectly predictable.

Activists also put some of the board members on the BoD in 2013/14 and the board bios are fine. It seems to me the Mantle Ridge MO (from rails sector) is to identify max EBIT margin of the sector and show it to the laggard and say “why don’t YOU run things as efficiently”

$apd - weird activist campaign. Company is already undoing the aggro hydrogen capex push… but activists want that to be done by someone other than Seifi - who the activists installed in the 1st place 11yrs ago when Hilal was at Pershing Sq

Kinder Bueno barcode in the supermarket was faulty & wouldn’t scan, so the checkout guy just shook his head at it, and threw it in my bag for free. Then the guy at the post office wouldn’t charge me for the envelope because it was late and he couldn’t be bothered to restart the scanner. Winning

on Treasury. Paulson seems exactly the kind of guy who'll issue a presser stating he's "withdrawing from consideration" just to save face. For some reason I'm worried about Lutnick getting it over Bessent.

IIRC share buybacks have been a major part of the investment case here. If this is a good FCF-generative business like the bulls claim, then no need for them to worry and they should welcome this volatility.

I have some 2ndary shares in Databricks and apparently there's buying interest all the way in >$80B valuation. You can buy 2 whole Snowflakes at that valuation.
