Democrats should back away from shutdown, Schumer says The minority leader's remarks are a clear indication that the Senate will vote to advance a GOP stopgap.

Senate Dems should shut down government, but remember what @schumer.senate.gov said last year

“I believe it is my job...to minimize the harms to the American people. Therefore, I will vote to keep the government open and not shut it down."

At least he's learning...

AOC: They need 10 Democratic votes in the Senate to pass, continued unfettered ICE funding with no guardrails. Regardless of where you are in the Democratic party, this moment proves that the status quo cannot stand

I would implore my Democratic colleagues in the senate to vote no

This line graph illustrates the percentage change in agency staff levels from the previous year for nine major U.S. federal scientific and health organizations between the fiscal years 2016 and 2025. The agencies tracked include the CDC, Department of Energy, EPA, FDA, NASA, NIH, NIST, NOAA, and NSF. For the majority of the timeline between 2016 and 2023, the agencies show relatively stable fluctuations, generally staying within a range of +5% to -5% change per year. However, there is a dramatic and uniform plummet starting in the 2024–25 period. Every agency depicted shows a sharp downward trajectory, with staffing losses ranging from approximately -15% to over -25%. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) shows the most significant decline, dropping to roughly -26%, while the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) shows the least severe but still substantial drop at approximately -15%.

This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.

This is NOT symbolic. If Dems adopt this position as a caucus, ICE get reined in. Full stop. Not after Trump, not after the midterms - NOW. Call your Dem rep and senators and tell them to back this play today.

Wolves had some big wins in 2025!

In response to one of our lawsuits, a federal judge ruled that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service had broken the law when it denied our petition to protect #wolves across the U.S. West under the #EndangeredSpeciesAct.
