i do think now is perhaps the worst time in all of human history for trans people to be settling our beefs with each other loudly and in the public square.
i think that’s a pretty bad decision to be making in 2025.

Showed up to the Italian grocer wearing my cornicello today and it has me feeling very stereotypical 🇮🇹
someone should write an essay on how we've gone backwards on a very elementary understanding of what sexism is, to the point where ppl are missing the subtle and unequal ways it is wielded & just think it's like bugs bunny heart eyes at a broad
I want "dating app" where couples find other couples to go on hotpot dates with
Interesting article about efforts to bring back the American chestnut. Looks like the hybrid tree option (95% genetically American chestnut, but hybridized with other chestnut species that are resistant) seems to be the most effective. I hope one day these lost forests can be restored! 🌱 🌎
The NYT’s big profile on Skrmetti is centered around a genuine factual error, accusing the movement for trans rights and ACLU specifically of being behind the lawsuit, when it was the Biden administration.
It’s literally in the name of the case, US v Skrmetti.
The Atlantic: The Magic Realism of Zohran Mamdani The socialist New York mayoral candidate's proposals don't hold up to serious scrutiny. Will that matter? By Michael Powell
so I have a lot of complicated thoughts about the specific issue at hand, but I have to point out that’s not what “magical realism” is
Immersion français donc je vois moliere
Not sure why I feel this way
Ngl I love it but moliere reminds me so much of Hamilton
AI photo of Trump dressed as the pope.
The president of the United States, who earlier this week quipped that he'd "like to be pope," posted this Friday evening on one of his social media accounts.
I hit a dead end with a project I'm working on and a random redditor offered to help me ;_;
This means there are now *six* lawsuits against the Trump administration filed primarily by faith groups, with *dozens* of houses of worship, religious orgs, and entire religious denominations among the plaintiffs.
Proves the long belief I've had that they "they just need to actually know a trans person" theory is bullshit
it's possible to just find people obnoxious and not Do Politics about it. but if you're going to insist that political teams are evaluated by the behavior of their most aggressive members then you could at least be minimally honest about what your team is like
There has been an implicit agreement between the IRS and undocumented migrants that they can pay their taxes without fear. Many undocumented migrants do so, in part so they can apply for citizenship/visas in the future. Now that trust is going to be abused to potentially deport millions of people.
@jessicacalarco.bsky.social ' "Translation: it's easier to force women to have more babies if we make it harder for them to go to college." is of course right.
There's no intellectual gotcha or argument with them, because the evil thing -the forcing- is precisely what they want. MFs delenda sunt.
I don't like my partner's last name because of the amount of syllables and mine sounds better, but I'm seriously considering taking it because a) his family is amazing and b) it's less likely to be seen as my first name
Personal ))) my partner's family continues to be amazing. Genuinely so lucky with them. Its really weird to think that this is what family is supposed to feel like.
i think "an effective altruist is personally denying twenty million people their HIV medications despite a court order telling him to send the money" is a pretty good summary of effective altruism as a real world philosophy
To answer some quick questions about my latest story:
- It does not apply to the Visa Waiver Program as far as I can see
- It does not impact American citizens
- The ban exclusively impacts transgender foreigners seeking visas in the United States
- It is far more extensive than reported elsewhere
One of the things I’m thinking about watching Survivor and thinking about politics is this: a constant reason why alliances fall apart is when someone thinks (often correctly) that nobody listens to them, which means they’re not really part of the alliance. They’re just being used as a number.
The reason for “female mice” is because until recently research ignored the differences between men and women which led to treatments that were dangerous or ineffective for women.
text says: when you get to the part in TURNED GAY BY THE EXISTENTIAL DREAD THAT I MAY ACTUALLY BE A CHARACTER IN A CHUCK TINGLE BOOK where its revealed that we are all, in fact, characters in a chuck tingle book. image is wiiam dafoe looking skyward with dread
a lot to process but great news overall
Sam Nordquist was a Black trans man who was murdered by 5 white cis people in such brutal fashion that a cop on the case called it “the most depraved crime I’ve seen in 20 years.”
By stripping Sam of his identity, the NYT violates his memory and perpetuates a culture of racist, anti-trans violence.
Editor: So your fictional company had a policy of "Do no evil"
Writer: Yeah
Editor: But then they removed it
Writer: Yeah
Editor: Cause it wanted to do evil
Writer: Yeah
Editor: Don't you think that's a little on the nose
I wish people listened to stories like this more when they say that all we need to do is convince people Trump won't help them with the price of eggs.
Yes, there is a truth to how this became an access point for many, but for many of his voters it was just the first step towards totalizing belief.
