AI - Still a lot more A and not enough I. #edusky

Got it. Read it. Shared it.
Interesting thought. I think back to my school days when told "write that in your own words". I struggled - "why use my own words when the words I'm copying are better?" #edusky
When confronting students caught using GenAI extensions for math work, or GPT for writing, many freely admit they ran out of time & pushed the "easy button". Whether it's kids whose activity schedules are overloaded or classes where extra work substitutes for rigor, time crunch is a factor. #edusky
Student AI use: thought partner or replace thinking. For students it always seems to be the latter. Copying & pasting from GPT is getting out of control. Why do students choose this path over thinking - even when they know the answer. Laziness? Homework overload? Lack of relevance? Discuss #Edusky
Did the article drop yet?
Its about building positive relationships with students, evaluating the process, not just the product. Stop looking for "gotcha" moments.
Teacher came to me saying they suspected a student had used AI. "How do I check?". I responded, "Assume AI didn't exist and you suspected it was not the student's work. What would you do?"
Ask the student to explain their thinking. Don't mention AI, or they go on the defensive. #EduSkyAI
We pay for ChatGPT Team so our data is our own and not used to train their models. openai.com/enterprise-p... #EduInFocus
Using GenAI can be disheartening. I pride myself on my ability to write in Seuss-like rhyme. I asked AI to provide feedback on a document but respond in rhyming verse. Watching how quickly & easily it crafted whimsical rhyming comments, I know how Salieri felt watching Mozart. sigh. crestfallen.
Love using BriskTeaching for inspecitng and getting feedback on student work. Perfect tool if you live in the Chrome/Google ecosphere. Thanks @jenroberts.bsky.social for sharing how students are using Magic School AI to make feedback spaces. Can this replace/augement peer editing? #EduInFocus
Uploading spreadsheets to GenAI and using it to analyze and summarize data by simply asking questions instead of fubling with funky queries or XLOOKUP #EduInFocus
Using GenAI like Brisk to write song lyrics based on course content and turning the lyrics into music using suno.com #EduInFocus
I would recommend Adobe Express for Education (Free for schools). The AI image generator powered by Adobe Firefly has safeguards (think "walled-garden") to protect students from inappropriate images and prevent them from entering inappropriate prompts. #EduInFocus
Absolutely! If I were applying for a job I would definitely do that. I’d show students how to do that too. EX: Here’s a job desc. What skills do I need? What questions will they ask me?
A2: AI wrote this response for me: "AI is helping me communicate this week by enhancing student feedback, streamlining lesson planning, and sparking discussions on digital assessments and ethics in education. Also, it's my thought partner for an upcoming podcast!" #EduInFocus
Just an experiment right now. Put in the job description, asked it to generage interview questions, add some hypotheticals. Refined prompt so to emphasize specific job aspects. It offered to generate a structured scoring rubric. Impressed with results. Will see what hiring committee says.
ChatGPT helped me refine and rephrase interview questions based on a job description, and build a structured scoring rubric to evaluate potential candidates. #edusky
Yes. That appears to be what we are experiencing. It doesn't say this in the article but it seems if you decide to click share and add responders manually to a form, it does not accept more than 100 responders. #edusky
Google Forms is having all kinds of issues. Respondents must request access even though the form is set so "anyone with the link" can access. It is just me? #edusky
How do I know this is you and not one of your doppelgängers?
@alicekeeler.com has been raving about Cracker Barrel for years. Finally tried it today. Where has this place been all my life?
When you ask ChatGPT to write test questions for you, be sure to include "higher order thinking" in your prompt. You'll be much more pleased with the results. #edusky
I do like that BlueSky allows you to decide who can interact with your posts.
If you're still using Twitter are you an x-twitter user? Asking for a friend. #edusky
But if you say it in your head too many times it starts to sound strange to the point where it doesn't even look like a real word.
For those of you using Adobe Express Edu on iPad: If you're frustrated that students cannot join classes know that their engineers are working to fixing this in an upcoming app update. "If everything goes as planned, they are targeting its release in Q1 (between December and February)." #edusky
My colleague just shared this. Open AI's "Student's Guide to Writing with ChatGPT". I wonder if their AI wrote it. :P #edusky openai.com/chatgpt/use-...
Maybe an imposter. Name misspelled in handle.
Reminds me of the early days of that other micro blogging tool.
