Not sure regarding the badges but he must have earned a good few from being on the Albion coaching staff for several years now. I get the impression Bilkul will offer it to him. Patel being there last night is a clue for that happening I reckon.

I could get very used to this impenetrable, winning lark.

Give Jimmy the job Shilen. Deserves it. 4-4-2 is the way to go, with physical committed lads.

Sign Imray too, best right back we’ve had in years.

Absolutely marvellous win, a huge one too. Mozza is doing an immense job. Delighted for Dike who I had a feeling would score a big, big goal at some point.

Beat Watford too and we’re in touching distance, even if we end up getting docked a couple of points eventually.

BAGGIES!!!

I’m mentally preparing for life in League 1. In some ways I’m quite looking forward to it.

It’ll be Morrison. Which is fine by me.

They have definitely made some mistakes on the football side. Naive at times. Wish they’d stuck with Mowbray, not sacked him so stupidly quickly. Hopefully Price and Roberts are savvy additions who enable better decision making.

It’s incredible how Slot took charge of Liverpool, made them champions, then spent £500m and made them shit. Not all on him of course but my gawd their crap now.

Bollocks to Ipswich but fair play Pompey if they beat them after winning at Boro.

I don’t get why you blame Bilkul when this is all the fault of Lai. Bilkul have tried to actually run our club responsibly. Yes, they’ve made some mistakes but at least they care. They’ll be going nowhere. Very odd we may be charged given all the compliance with the EFL to avoid exactly that.

Cracking game between Como and Inter this evening. 4-3 to Inter but they were given a right old test. Serie A is often a more enjoyable watch than the humdrum Premier League.

That was a Roubaix classic today. Well done Wout. So close Pogi, no doubt you’ll be back again next year.

At Championship level Morrison has more experience than both of them. He’s also part of culture of Albion and loves the club. These things matter. He’s proven himself worthy and deserves the job.

Sticking with Morrison feels like the right thing to do, providing we survive. He’ll have earned it.

Ideally we won’t be in that situation, but let’s keep perspective - had that been offered after we lost to Oxford, any Albion fan would have taken it.

No doubt we majorly lack quality in the final third. I don’t blame the strikers, it’s the supply line to them that’s the issue. Albion must remain solid in the final games and seek a way - any way - to score. Via set plays most likely.

The Grind An Albion artist from times gone by leads their soldiers of today, slowly but surely toward the summit of safety

Point by hard earned point, West Bromwich Albion are - hopefully - hauling themselves to safety. An artist from better times gone by leads a group of soldiers into four more battles.

My latest Substack - The Grind - available to read in The Throstles Nest.

Impossible to look beyond Pog for any race he turns up for nowadays. Definitely interesting to see how Remco fairs however, as you say.

It was a shame that Albion stopped playing however. We’ve seen that too many times this season - leading, therefore regressing into a cautious game of lump ball rather than continuing to dictate and control. Lack of quality, yes, but also a lack of confidence and to some extent, backbone.

Nice one. All those games are winnable, I look at every remaining fixture as the same however - playing as we have been, all are points up for grabs.

Lampard’s goal would now count thanks to GLT, not VAR. No one wants rid of the former as it compliments the game. Majority want rid of the latter because it doesn’t compliment the game. Fans can get over other mistakes, we still do every week in the EFL.

I’m currently two thirds through it Adrian, a really enjoyable read 👍🏻

A nice milestone for my Substack today, reaching 100 subscribers. Thanks to all who have done so, I appreciate it hugely!

I’m really enjoying writing about #WBA and there’s plenty more to come from The Throstle’s Nest.

Furlong has only been missed because he wasn’t replaced with a genuine right back, at least until Imray arrived. Campbell replaced him more than adequately in a defensive sense. More competition at full back is a must for this summers shopping. Be great if we could get Imray again.

Styles certainly runs a lot, but he’s not the quickest and is quite selective about venturing forward.

4 weeks ago 0 0 0 0

Exactly. And Aloba isn’t on the pitch a lot either. Imray is the kind of full back I’ve wanted at Albion for years, the first genuinely forward thinking and quick one we’ve had since Kieran Gibbs

Agree it’s much of a muchness regarding quality. The two ingredients that make the difference IMO are pace (my god we lack that, especially in attack) and mental grit. Coventry are winning the league simply thanks to having plenty of both. Mozza has brought the latter back for Albion. Thankfully.

Thanks Lee! That’s a fair mindset, you never know when the players may drop their levels, but of late they seem revitalised to the point that I fancy us against any Championship opponent currently. If that remains the case, how can Mozza not be given the job?

Hope Springs Eternal Mozza the manager - bringing sunny optimism and genuine leadership sorely needed at The Hawthorns

The Throstle’s are singing again, but not only because it’s springtime - it’s also thanks to James Morrison’s back to basics, yet thoroughly effective, leadership approach.

46 could be one more win and six defeats - I’d be terrified if that was our return from here. We need 50 minimum, and though there’s some insurance from having Sheff Wed in the final game, I want us already safe by then.

4 weeks ago 1 1 0 0

Every game is winnable playing as we are. I don’t think we’ll win every remaining game by any means, but there’s 21 points left up for grabs and we must grab as many as possible.

1 month ago 1 1 0 0

We aren’t safe until we reach 50 points minimum and I won’t believe otherwise
