we think this is a separate issue, possibly a low-level Godot bug. While we investigate, we've discovered (as you have) that double-tapping the home button fixes it immediately.

update: patch will land within the hour
patch will land within the hour
Good news for Switch owners picking up TR-49: Cecil has written a new description of how the machine *should* behave. He's feeding it in as we speak.
The revision process will take an hour, tops? Put the kettle on. One sugar.

Guys sitting on sofa looking bored: it’s a silver sextant! It looks like it dates from The age of sail Guy cheering in excitement: it looks like there’s an inscription
Playing a lot of Heavens Vault at the moment
A greyscale image with two sketched portraits of a masculine and feminine face, both with serious expressions on their faces, and the words TR-49 between them. A box with four blue stars and the Eurogamer logo is in the corner.
Inkle's eerie codebreaking narrative game TR-49 is now available on Switch. We gave it four stars in our PC review and said: "Inkle mixes archive-surfing and audio drama to create a surprisingly powerful story of obsession and a machine." www.eurogamer.net/tr-49-review

We’re hoping it’ll be out in a few days; we’ll post here when it’s live
Np. It’s very likely the same issue; we’re fairly confident that the patch will be what you need. Apologies for the wait!
As we say, the issue is serious, but we’ve fixed it and the patch should be live in a few days
Otherwise, over on @polygon.com they're calling it "the year's best puzzle game" -- they also say "If you love dissecting game design, anything with Inkle’s name on it should be appointment playing."
Our acclaimed narrative deduction / audio drama, TR-49, is out now on Nintendo Switch!
Sadly, some performance issues have been found in the later part of the game that weren't evident on the dev hardware we used for testing. We've submitted an expedited patch to fix it. Blasted vacuum tubes!
Are you a game writer or narrative nerd or just interested in how game writers interact with their craft? There's a book about it called The Game Narrative Kaleidoscope and it's out now from Inkle. A neat review with a bunch of info:
So many smart snippets in our chat about dialogue writing with @hownottodraw.bsky.social last week, but here's one: on how we have to define how defined our character is to design choices that make sense.

A photo of a paragraph in a book about worlds in games being hostile to the player - in a good way.
That is a good point! (From Inkle's book on game writing)
It’s traditional for us to announce our projects on April Fools day, so we’d like to announce that our next game is about a pirate solving cold cases in order to win entrance into Heaven
This week on the Game Narrative Kaleidoscope Podcast:
We talk to @hownottodraw.bsky.social about micro-branching: choices that don't have big story impacts, but give value in the moment. How do we use them well?

Lovely spelunk into the Kaleidoscope!
What a headline

I finally got to listen to this episode yesterday and I found Mary’s advice about working through moments of harassment by touching grass *so* accurate.
I wanted to share some of my grass touching activities, and maybe hear about other people’s grass touching activities too… SO:
