Sound Transit launches survey as it shapes cost-cutting plan that would ‘defer’ light rail to Ballard and West Seattle
Transit advocates shared ideas to save Ballard Link light rail from being cut or severely delayed at a rally Saturday. A ballooning budget has Sound Transit considering drastic measures, but advocates see a path forward to get to Market Street.

NEW STORY// April Urbanist Socials, Light Rail Town Halls, and Ballard March

True, though the post-2016 MVET hike is the main increase in costs that residents notice.
Would people still pay $100s, even $1000s per year to register their cars if their rail project got axed? I-776 wasn't tested in federal court.
I don't think ST leaders have thought this through.
In a sense, Ballardites have been paying 27 years not just 10 years. To pile on, you might also add 3 years for the unbuilt monorail.
We shouldn’t have to march to protect a rail line we voted for by an enormous margin and have been paying for over the last 10 years. But we do. See you in Ballard on Sunday!

Back in September, SDOT invited @seattletru.bsky.social to table at their Graham Street Station party. It was a lot of fun and a lot of people came out to see where the new station will be.
The *only* thing people didn't like? Waiting until 2031.
We can do this and we should do this!

When I moved to Seattle in 2006, there was no regional rail connection to anywhere. In two days, we open a connection that unites TWO LINES together into a full network.
Progress is possible.
In just one week, Redmond City Councilmember Jessica Forsythe and I can take @sound-transit.bsky.social light rail to see each other! The Crosslake Connection won’t just bring together the 1 line and 2 line, but will also bring together friends, colleagues, families and more. See you March 28th!
A construction worker in high-visibility clothing is adjusting equipment on a concrete surface. The scene is outdoors, featuring a series of rectangular metal components aligned in rows. A concrete barrier runs alongside, and there are trees and houses visible in the distant background under a cloudy sky.

How it started: early construction taking shape. How it’s going: a fully connected 2 Line.
Years of planning, precision, and teamwork are leading to one historic connection, opening March 28. See more photos: www.soundtransit.org/blog/platform/then-now-c...
