It's almost certainly tariffs. From a business point of view it definitely makes sense, but the lack of transparency about this amount of a change in something I rely on has made me pretty concerned

That being realized at an unclear date aside, the reality now is that an excellent product which I’ve relied on is disappearing. I've purchased a lot while old supply remains, you should too. I would love some public transparency about this move from @northshoreabdl.bsky.social, because this sucks.

As someone who has given Northshore a large amount of business over the years, I am upset. They’re basically killing off their own best product. Based on the email chain I had with them, it seems that on some level they are aware that they are shipping an inferior product, and promise improvements.

The single largest fault, however, was what I feared most of all- Megamax’s unbeatable tapes have been neutered. A problem I have only EVER otherwise encountered with ABU’s Little Pawz/Space chasis, on my very first Megamax USA v2 out of the package, my lower left tape separated from the body.

Another weird thing I noticed that really concerned me is that my bag of Megamax USAs seemed to be offgassing after being opened. (Unscented) diapers aren't supposed to smell AT ALL from the pack, and yet, I found myself needing to shove the bag in a drawer to stop my room from smelling chemically.

While the capacity wasn’t *terrible*, it was noticeably different in distribution, with areas like the upper front becoming saturated faster. In some spots, my skin felt less dry. The fit, swell, wicking, and SAP displacement were acceptable, but they just feel FRAGILE, in a way the old ones don't.

On first glance, I noticed a less premium-feeling milling for the plastic backsheet (despite claims of improvement), a smaller landing zone, and of course the unsightly branding along the spine. There's no way to explain it other than they feel *cheaper*, thinner, and much more medical.

As someone who has worn Megamaxes as my daily since 2022, I got a pack of the USA version to test. I am disappointed. Despite what they’ve claimed, these are products which are simply not comparable in quality, and it seems they're replacing an excellent product with a meaningfully inferior one.

BIG NEWS: To those not in the loop- Northshore is RETIRING the original Megamax produced in China, FULLY replacing it with the USA version. You can no longer get the original S, M, L, or XL Megamax in white, and others WILL follow.

Considering the quality dropoff, this is distressing.
