Hope the next D POTUS divests every state-run industry Trump has acquired

republicans will yowl and piss and moan and that to my mind is all the reason to do it
Musk and Zuck and Thiel and Altman and the rest are some of the unhappiest people to ever live, and they all seem willing to destroy the world in their search for just a moment of contentment. Not great for the rest of us.
He's a liar and a killer. I don't know what else to tell people, he's a rich eugenicist, he wants as many poor people as possible to die in the name of 'health.' He's a genuinely and uniquely malign figure in American life and his appointment was an act of violence
Trials. From top to bottom, the whole chain, from the White House to those pressing the button.
They think you're stupid.
There does not need to be, and should not be, a single Republican district in Oregon.
The implicit media consensus is that urban voters should not be able to overrule rural voters, but that rural voters should be able to overrule urban voters, an assumption so axiomatic and unquestionable that nobody even understands they're making it.
Update on the Moda Center process: I was recently asked to join a small group of councilors to stay close to the talks as the admin enters negotiation. It was conveyed to me that a condition of being in this group would be a commitment to honor an NDA between the city and the team. I refused. 🧵
It is my position that elected officials should not enter into NDAs either through direct signature or by honoring the non-disclosure commitments of a master NDA. The point of an NDA is to keep details secret, which is the opposite of what we should be doing with this project.
Hot take: the open fuck you energy of 10-1 did better than 9-2 would have. L. Louise Lucas was right. Soft-pedaling it wouldn't have sold, "you're goddamn right we are" did.
it’s so funny that the drunk tv host in charge of the military is like “real warriors don’t need vaccines” when all the greatest generals in history would have done anything for a jab that kept their armies safe from disease
nothing bothers me more than a good setup that isnt spiked, all anyone needed to do here was ask if he thought Donald Trump would summon him if he didnt give the economy an A
Just thinking about how *even Viktor Orban* realized that acknowledging election outcomes is a good thing.
I feel like we get really hung up on "Was the Biden economy good for people or not" which I don't think is the right question. The real confounding thing that I have yet to see anyone have a good answer for was "Why did people think the Biden economy was worse than the Trump 1 economy?"
You 100% do not want a central banker that cannot answer a simple factual question due to fear of the political fallout
One of the Sandy Hook families lives in hiding 1500 mi away from their baby’s grave due to people stalking them.
The graves of multiple children have been defaced.
One of the fathers had to submit DNA evidence to prove his son was a REAL HUMAN BEING after Alex Jones’ book said he never existed.
advertising technology in the 1990s: look at this “website” you can “surf”. it has an image of a cat on it
advertising technology in the 2020s: you must adopt this now or die. we are going to completely kill you if you don’t download this app immediately
Elon Musk basically accused Trump of being a pedophile and then got dinner with him again a few months later. Joe Rogan acted shocked and dismayed about ICE and Iran and now he’s standing behind Trump in the Oval Office. These guys only care about holding onto power through any means necessary
I unironically believe this. If you're in charge of deciding what is THE LAW, and you hold that position for life, you should have to give up all of other pursuits and dedicate yourself fully to doing nothing but that, without anything else to distract you or influence you.

New idea:
Law monastery in Alaska; justices have to take a vow of poverty and they’re not allowed to leave the monastery once they’re on SCOTUS
That old conservative line about the 9 most terrifying words in the English language?
I would fucking *love* to hear them, instead of some weird bank-shot tax policy or project that won't actually be complete for over a decade.
Of course Trump is looting our tax contributions: the Trump family fortune is based on looting our tax $.
Trump owes his political career to mass theft of public $:
If his father hadn't stolen $413,000,000 by ripping off federal housing funds, plus tax evasion, there'd be no POTUS Trump.
John G. Roberts, Chief Justice of these United States, does with regularity, and in a manner inconsistent with the rule of law and unbecoming of his office, purport to decide cases according to rules which he knows he will not actually apply, generally and neutrally, to all cases within their logic
We already KNOW how to make super babies, you eugenicist creeps! And it's all the things you fucking fucks are fucking up! THREAD!
We have a serious problem with appellate courts not having district courts' backs on things like fact-intensive injunctions.
The Trump administration literally lied about the need for ballroom construction, and the appeals court is saying we like to be lied to.
I’m not a lawyer, and I’m exhausted, so I can’t say exactly which part of the constitution forbids it, but if the constitution does not forbid the president from suing the government in his personal capacity and then ordering the government to settle in his official one, it forbids nothing.
John Roberts is and always has been Sam Alito with better PR
he has declared himself and his fellow republican justices the unelected rulers of America and they have wielded their power in favor of making Donald Trump of all people untouchable
the court as it exists today must be broken
Most striking to me about these memos is the radically different assessment of the harm imposed by the president not being able to pursue his initiatives. Over the last 15 mos., that harm has in numerous cases been treated as almost per se serious and irreparable. Here, it gets no analysis at all.
