Nearly every "beneficial" use case proposed for GenAI is simply offering up a techno-utopian solution to a structural problem.

Like, these folks would rather dump piles of money into AI boondoggles than address the structural issues that give rise to their supposed "beneficial" use case.

I don't think it is only our job to teach students how to read long novels; it may also be our jobs to teach them how to live without an online surveillance state. To learn without intrusive apps. NYT could have had a frontpage story that read: "Aging madman making insane threats to Europe, threatening our economy & security for delusions." But instead they normalize & legitimize this madman because they are collaborators against US.
