After an extremely chaotic month full of starts and stops, the second episode of the PDCU is out on April 25th! In it, I have finally and conclusively answered the age-old question “What if Don Quixote was a commentary about the state of Big Two superhero comics in 2026?”

Sounds neat! Congrats on taking on the epic highs and lows of adapting public domain IP- I apologize in advance if we ever accidentally overlap on an idea
OUT NOW! @pdcu.bsky.social joins us to present “The Spider,” a scriptment based on the public domain hero with a thousand* faces, and the first in (tentatively titled) “Edge of the SPUMM-Verse,” where guests can pitch alternate takes on the spidey mythos
* two faces

I’m already thinking of my next pitch! Face it, tiger- when it comes to podcast guests, you just hit the jackpot 😘
God, I had such a blast recording with the HTDWSMIT crew. I try and keep a pretty even tone with the PDCU episodes so it was nice to cut loose and get silly. Tune in tomorrow for high-quality goofs and gaffs 🕷️🕵🏻
Congrats on joining the winning team (my listeners)! Your timing is perfect- my second episode (based on Don Quixote) comes out this Saturday!
Thanks for tuning in! I appreciate everyone who’s supporting the PDCU this early on- your belief means the world to me and hopefully I can pay it forward with hours upon hours of quality broadcasting 🫶🏻
Neat! I’ve been thinking of doing something similar for western adventure fiction. There’s such a clear line that can be drawn between RL Stevenson -> Machen -> Lovecraft, or HR Haggard -> Burroughs -> Siegel & Shuster, for example
But having just finished it, I can safely say that this is easily the best writing I’ve done so far in the PDCU. You guys are in for such a treat 🏹
Started working on the Robin Hood script. There’s a heist scene in Act One and it was a huge pain in the dick to write. Not only because I was basically making it up in real time, but because I used to be a professional locksmith and it drives me nuts when heist movies aren’t realistic.
Don’t forget about Nope!
Seven Soldiers is such a blind spot for me, I gotta check that out one of these days
The Creature refers to Victor as his father multiple times throughout both versions of the novel, so Frankenstein is a perfectly in-line patronym for him. Also Victor wasn’t a doctor because he dropped out of med school after making The Creature. Stop spreading misinformation!!!
White people love to be named Reynolds Greenleaf
I’ve spent most of today figuring out the plot of Robin Hood: Power to the People. So far the biggest challenge is figuring out how to adapt names like “Wat o’ the Crabstaff” into a contemporary setting
Not to worry- I’m still going to post here, and all major show updates will be posted about on both platforms
I sincerely appreciate everyone who follows me on BlueSky, but the fact of the matter is that it isn’t very good for networking so I’ve set up an Instagram too. Feel free to follow along as I become the biggest podcaster in human history 🌈
Shoutout to the people of Indianapolis! I have no idea why or how but apparently Indianapolitans love the PDCU- and I, in turn, love them too 🫶🏻
Can barely hold a book, can’t record or edit anything for the podcast, showering is hard, it takes me 30 minutes to do my morning routine, I can’t even crack my knuckles… AAAAAAHHH
The novelty of having my dominant hand in a cast wore off after the first, oh, forty minutes or so, but they just told me I’m not getting it off until April 2nd 😭😭😭 this SUCKS oh my god I’m getting so restless
You’ll be happy to hear that a BONUS PDCU episode is coming out in the next ~two weeks or so, and it’s adapting a story that’s not just one of the most famous horror movies of all time, but one of the best novels ever written… 🧟♂️⚡️
Hello, friends of the show! Got some (non-emergency) surgery today and I won’t have full use of my dominant hand for a while, and since that’s the one I use for editing audio I unfortunately have to delay El Don: Origins by a month. I put out a new episode to explain it in further detail, out now
I’m the only person I know who likes the Sword Master comics and I just wish he’d been put in the game under his original mantle
SHOW UPDATE: I was able to schedule a long-overdue surgery for this Monday, but I won’t have full use of my dominant hand for some time afterwards. Hopefully I’ll be able to finish and release El Don: Origins by the 28th, but unfortunately I can’t make any promises
I’m going to be recording my Don Quixote episode (titled El Don: Origins) over the next few days! Feel free to submit theories and predictions about the episode, or questions and comments about Terror of the Ape Man (or the PDCU in general) and I’ll probably read them on-air!
I think it’s going to be about the titular protagonist navigating the criminal underworld, meeting Chewbacca, and winning the Millennium Falcon from Lando Calrissian in a card game
If any of you are fans of the @thepoduniverse.com podcast you might want to check out their new episode on March 8th- not only is it going to be wildly entertaining in its own right, it also features the first-ever ad spot for the Public Domain Cinematic Universe 🤟🏻
Was so distracted by uploading the first two episodes that I forgot to actually post about them 🙃 the Phase One slate reveal and first full episode (Terror of the Ape-Man) are available now, wherever you get your podcasts!
Tomorrow. #PDCU #PublicDomainCinematicUniverse
