We just set up shop over on surf.social, a new platform that combines Bluesky posts with podcasts, YouTube, RSS, and more β rolling it all into custom feeds. You can find us here:

still vibrating from #AtmosphereConf. everyone was so brilliant and coooool π we have something special here yall
About the Atmosphere
Iβm writing this from the beautiful UBC campus in Vancouver where ATmosphereConf 2026 is taking place. Itβs a gathering of developers, researchers, and entrepreneurs who are passionate about keeping the...

Okay, so a little while ago, I was asked to run an office hours event, where people could ask me their questions on AT Protocol, OAuth, etc
Here's that event: atmo.rsvp/p/thisismiss...
I will not be at the #AtmosphereConf this year ππ -- in fact, I'll be out of the office until April 5 (after this weekend!) But I REALLY WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU'RE GOING AND ARE BUILDING NEW AND INTERESTING THINGS. Dm or Germ or Signal or email me with any news! (Links on profile.)
We've got an updated protocol roadmap out, covering the next few months.
Look forward to seeing folks at AtmosphereConf later this week!
i do i do. does canada play pool?
it is based on WHATWG URL, which tracks with application/x-www-form-urlencoded (i.e. how <form> fields are handled on the web)
we're in the process of rolling this back on our end temporarily to mitigate impact for you.
The Atmosphere is a new open network.
The features:
- Your account works on all atmosphere apps
- You can switch to a new provider with no fuss
- Easy to make your own apps on it
- Works great with personal websites
And, Bluesky is an atmosphere app.
i am all application/json! pretty sure the at:// in the href will do what we need here. there is a reason we don't encounter these funky +json mime types ubiquitously as everyday devs. the interop story there is not as friendly as one might expect!
here it is folks!
lots of details to still nail down, but this is roughly where our heads are at for the design of a permissioned data protocol
give it a read and let me know your thoughts!
Thrilled to be working with @bad-example.com, whom you know from the excellent @microcosm.blue tools, on making the atproto network ever more resilient

Some very exciting news - it looks like the working group for AT Protocol at the IETF has been approved! (though not formalized in the datatracker just yet)
This is a big milestone in the standards process. But is also just the start of the actual process - years of meetings & work ahead!
if an mst falls in a merkle forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
@tylerjfisher.com i think we should be back in business! we experienced some attacks earlier today and i believe the mitigation caused this flakiness for you. if you see it persist at all please do reach out againβ once you flagged this, it became a p0 to fix!
the at protocol is amazing. i've read a lot about it and haven't made anything with it yet. macwright.com/2026/03/16/a...
Week 1 observations: toni.org/2026/03/13/i...
yeah like you pudding it in a bucket
continuing to build up our permissioned data protocol!
this one asks what a bucket actually is and where the data that constitutes a bucket is stored. it argues for maintaining the atproto ethos in the permissioned data protocol
as always, looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
I started a short blog series to share my experience creating a custom feed for Bluesky β a pet project that started as βlet's build a triathlon feedβ and (spoiler alert!) now can be used for any topic : )

i like it!
@jimray.bsky.team: "We're proud to be supporting npmx with a $6K grant as a part of our ongoing ecosystem support. (...) The atmospheric web is bigger than any one application, and projects like npmx are exactly what it looks like in practice" π
Thanks a ton, Bluesky team! Cheers to the social web!
I'm thrilled to announce that I'll be joining Bluesky as interim CEO. I deeply believe in what this team has built and the open social web they're fighting for. More here: toni.org/2026/03/09/c...
We're so excited to support @thisismissem.social's work bringing FedCM to the open social web!
atproto.com/blog/working...
there aren't many folks who can bring such a full picture to the W3C on decentralized login the way @thisismissem.social will be able to.
this is great news for atproto re: steps towards a browser-native login experience, and other ecosystems will benefit too. i will be following along closely!
has the issue persisted? these are currently both giving me the result i'd hope/expect:
