About the Atmosphere I’m writing this from the beautiful UBC campus in Vancouver where ATmosphereConf 2026 is taking place. It’s a gathering of developers, researchers, and entrepreneurs who are passionate about keeping the web and our online conversations free and open. The mood here is excited and very collaborative, and I’ve been meeting many of the people who...

The Atmosphere is a new open network.
The features:

- Your account works on all atmosphere apps
- You can switch to a new provider with no fuss
- Easy to make your own apps on it
- Works great with personal websites

And, Bluesky is an atmosphere app.

i am all application/json! pretty sure the at:// in the href will do what we need here. there is a reason we don't encounter these funky +json mime types ubiquitously as everyday devs. the interop story there is not as friendly as one might expect!

[Atp] personnel assignments for ATP Search IETF mail list archives

Some very exciting news - it looks like the working group for AT Protocol at the IETF has been approved! (though not formalized in the datatracker just yet)

This is a big milestone in the standards process. But is also just the start of the actual process - years of meetings & work ahead!

Permissioned Data Diary 3: Your Bucket, My Data The third in a series of posts building up a solution to permissioned data on atproto. We look at two different models for where buckets live and why the simpler-looking one doesn’t work out.

continuing to build up our permissioned data protocol!

this one asks what a bucket actually is and where the data that constitutes a bucket is stored. it argues for maintaining the atproto ethos in the permissioned data protocol

as always, looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

there aren't many folks who can bring such a full picture to the W3C on decentralized login the way @thisismissem.social will be able to.

this is great news for atproto re: steps towards a browser-native login experience, and other ecosystems will benefit too. i will be following along closely!
