I'm working on a couple of upcoming talks and can't get over how simply describing what is happening right now with attacks on the NSF, NIH, Diversity, etc. makes me sound like a raving lunatic.

They've launched an all-out assault on empirical reality.

A good researcher would also ask, "what is the counterfactual?" It is very likely that math scores would be WORSE without IES.

The media is missing that it's not just government employees losing their jobs-- it's contractors too. The effects on unemployment in DC, Virginia, and Maryland are going to be staggering.

To have any hope of restoring what has been lost, there needs to be a Project 2027 plan that is a direct rebuttal to Project 2025, so that if Democrats gain Congressional power they can quickly restore funding, civil service, watchdogs, and human rights.
