Senior professors - if you want to help your junior colleagues in these times, I am begging you, review our papers. I have done 25 manuscript reviews in the last 6 years. But my own manuscript is stalled out waiting for reviewers. Relatedly, I won't be doing any more reviews until tenure. 🧪

All but three (!) of the 1,651 refugees admitted into the United States in the three most recent months we have data are white South Africans.

For comparison, in 2024, the U.S. admitted 100,060 refugees. It's an explicit white supremacist project.

Jaw-dropping admission by DOJ to court.

DOJ admits to having repeatedly made "material mistaken" representations to judge - ICE never had authority (under 2025 Guidance) to conduct arrests at immigration courthouses!

DOJ admits court "relied on...prior misrepresentations."

Map of the ME showing the two straits

Yemen’s Houthis have announced they’ll be joining the war in support of Iran shortly. Analysts expect them to shut down another strait, Bab El-Mandeb, which will close the Suez Canal. The global economy hangs by a thread.

Killing is fun.

Pete Hegseth is responsible for killing 175 schoolkids in Iran because he gutted the group responsible for making sure the military doesn't hit civilian targets. Hegseth may be correct that the US doesn't knowingly target civilians, but in this case, gross negligence is not an excuse for a massacre.

Imagine the reaction in the US if ~175 schoolgirls had been killed by a targeted Iranian missile. (Or anyone's missile.)

This is an atrocity.

He can’t define it, because whiteness is created to be invisible. It’s about domination over others, pure and simple.

Farm workers. The fields on the field. The legacies of slavery and colonialism—the sugar cane plantation, labor power, power crisis—despite it all, the future reaches through the tv to the past to make our postcolonial present.

The people of the Americas live on: seguimos aquí.

Up first is the Arts & Media essay "The Cost of Compliance" by @rachaelvm454.bsky.social which analyzes Apple TV+’s Severance as a critique of how corporate culture strip workers of autonomy and identity while masking exploitation behind the language of purpose and growth. doi.org/10.1215/1547...

Every elected official who swore to uphold the constitution needs to understand that we’re in the middle of an unconstitutional authoritarian takeover of the US and it’s time to take a side.
