In cloud computing 'Compute' is one of the things you buy, like 'Storage'.
Though Storage didn't become Store, I guess it was easier to say than Computation.

How about 'to wallop s/o', 'give s/o a walloping'. What do the Mary Wallopers have to say on this subject?

Daily Mail Headline: Pupils' drawings could be blasphemous under Islamic law, Labour councils tell schools - while music and dance classes may go against the teachings of Islam

Oh boy! What a headline...

Ask yourself:

"What am I being asked to believe?"

"Who am I being told to blame?"

Take a few seconds to imagine what the Daily Mail (And Telegraph, GB News and Express) WANT you to think is going on.

Let's see what's ACTUALLY happening...🧵

In my team at work an Indian colleague who'd lived here for two years voted for brexit (he thought it unfair that Indians needed a work visa while Europeans didn't). A Danish colleague who'd lived here for twenty years didn't even get to vote.

Watched 'Godzilla minus one' today and discovered that 'kamikaze' is the English translation of what the Japanese called these pilots. Are there any other borrowed foreign words in English that don't mean what we think they do in the original language?

A forlorn landscape of layered rocks in the foreground, with hills fading into the background haze. At upper top right, a small crescent moon, and a bright star.

Open up this picture fully.

Then look at the surface of Mars.

Then look up to the top right.

Spot Mars' moon Phobos high in the sky.

Then notice the bright spot beside Phobos.

That's Earth.

I'm sharing this here, as I have on Facebook and Instagram, but there's no account on here to share from, and I just think this is wonderful.

A really good balance of design and implementation, and appears to achieve everything it set out to do, and it *SO* appeals to my inner 'work nerd'.

And this is where you even need to translate between different regions of the UK. A northern twat is very different insult to a southern twat and much more likely to start a fight.
