First article is from February. Second is today. The math is simple. Democrats need to be less polite and deferential toward seniority and instead focus on seizing, holding and wielding real, durable political power.

ONCE AGAIN, this demonstrates the party's lack of commitment in that regard.

Starting a mid-decade redistricting war only to end up with -1 seats is the same fine strategic genius and subtle grasp of game theory that brough us the Strait of Hormuz.

Amazing that in the national divorce the libs are getting the NFL, butter and cooking oil, being attracted to adult women, standup comedy, Bud Light, and now also Catholicism

Inconvenience? I just had to dig seven pages deep to find the unsubscribe for one of the four TV subscriptions I need, I'm measured & optimized against in my supermarket, lamps, music, games, and travel. Every service I love gets enshittified to buy billionaires yachts worth 100 times my house.

What we need mr Senator is to actually regulate these AI companies in any way shape or form. AI isn't actually organically changing the workforce, it's a scam to allow tech to further cannibalize the economy

an underrated, unforgivable belief that remains prevalent among pols and normies is that a rising tide lifts all boats when it’s been clear forever that a rising tide simply drowns the people on low lying land

“All you had to do was pay us a living wage” is doing a lot of very heavy “A riot is the voice of the unheard” warehouse fire lifting lately.

I maintain that among the media's biggest mistakes has been continuing to ask Trump questions as if he's a normal guy instead of asking things like "Can you explain who Jesus is" or "Describe the process of pumping gas"

Warner Bros specifically has had THREE utterly disastrous mergers in the last two decades that ALWAYS result in layoffs, price hikes, shittier products, and everybody losing their shirt, but I want you to notice how the U.S. outlets covering this story don't think that's worth mentioning

can you imagine if they had made a Daredevil tv show where each episode he gets a new case to solve as a lawyer and also there are supervillains?

We really did a massive disservice to kids who were interested in computers (and everyone else) by conflating "interested in computers" with "highly intelligent" and then setting them loose on the world with that misconception.

This is why I get mad annoyed at ppl who adamantly refuse to believe that Democrats aren’t actively complicit and are equally part of the problem. They are always more concerned about their own backsides so they can sit cushy and do absolutely nothing of worth beyond accruing power for its own sake

Its always funny when something happens, people rush to punch left and defend the actions of leadership. Then the articles come out and its like oh leadership sucks still.

this would be less transparently pathetic if the focus on "costs, corruption, and affordability" actually included meaningful and consistent challenges to unchecked corporate power, which they're ALSO too feckless to do

sometimes I think the democratic party is some kind of absurdist art installation, where the stated goal is to win elections and the actual goal is to never do that

This is a garbage read because "When the “woke” mania swept the country in 2020"? No such thing happened, you fell for an op. You quickly and readily believed conspiratorial nonsense because it was about people you already hated, and you still believe nonsense so you learned nothing from this.

I get it. Living in my world is weird in and of itself. If you think like I do, you have to see every announcement by Anthropic or OpenAI as suspicious — which should be the default position of every journalist, but I digress — and any promise of spending billions of dollars as impossible without infinite resources.

At the end of this era, I think we’re all going to have to have a conversation about the innate credulity of the business and tech media, and how often that was co-opted to help the rich get richer.

Until then, can we at least admit how weird this all is?

The AI bubble is extremely weird, the way we talk about AI is weird, the way the media lies about AI is weird, and all of it is dangerously bizarre. When this all blows up, we’ll need to ask difficult questions about why nobody called bullshit sooner.
