There’s a really simple rubric you can apply to identifying and addressing the issues with a live service product - is this issue negatively impacting your users’ experience?

If it’s not a problem for your users, then maybe it’s not a problem.

This lesson has been learned and forgotten and relearned over and over during the last ten years, Bungie. Trying to control how players play the game has never worked. Focusing on delivering good stories and fun gameplay and letting players decide how they want to engage with it has always worked.

As a full time worker and parent I don’t get a ton of time to enjoy this game, and I imagine a lot of the player base is in the same boat.

When an activity gets shut down completely because players aren’t playing your game the way you want them to, it makes me want to engage less, not more.

The community response to “we’re shutting down this whole activity” is going to be a lot worse than “have fun with the bug until we get it patched”.

I agree with everyone else here. Instead of disabling an entire activity because there’s currently an issue that lets people get more loot than you want them to, it would be better to receive that as feedback that they are not enjoying having to spend all their free time grinding for loot.

I agree with this idea in principle. Here’s something I worry about, though, and I don’t have a great solution for it. I worry that we are so far into a post truth, anti science era that the only people who would hear this are not the people who would actually listen.

There’s been a kind of…fashion of late to view anti-Trump libs as lame and cringe and just annoying, aesthetically. I remember this exact same aesthetic judgment in the run-up to the Iraq war. The earnest libs were right then and they’re right now.
