I know this might be out of place for me to say, but as I have been doing pit shows for quite a bit, I feel the need to ask: If you can’t respect the work that goes behind and below the stage of a show as much as on stage, if it really worth it? There are musicians that want to play. Let them.

I understand when tracks are needed for some student and amateur companies. It’s hard to even get musicians at that level. But at the professional level there are unions and local subs.

You should have NO reason to use tracks for ANY theatrical show with live music. ESPECIALLY THE NUTCRACKER?!

So…I saw a statement that the Milwaukee Ballet’s deciding to replace live musicians with tracks…for The Nutcracker.

Are. you. KIDDING ME?

Is it that hard to pay for the time and resources musicians put themselves through to learn, rehearse and perform a show?
