💙💙💙 we are so back

Even worse: Up here in Canada (or specifically southern Ontario), we used to refer to something that was funny as “jays.”

“Oh that’s jays,” “the movie was so jays.”

You can test new tech ideas using the Seinfeld Test

Would the product eliminate the plot of an episode? (Google maps, cell phones, paypal, battery packs)

Good tech.

Would the product inspire new Seinfeld plots? (NFTs, AI chatbots, crypto currency, blindboxes, metaverse land sales)

Bad tech.

Feel the same with hockey, sir. Although they haven’t played in the Olympics since 2014 and some of our best memories were seeing the Canadians win gold. Feels like baseball solidified their WBC commitment when Ohtani struck out Trout.

Sir, at what point does it dawn on the “Don’t tread on me” crowd that they are, in fact, being tread on?

Bichette won't improve the infield defensively, not sure what the Mets are doing by putting him at 3B. I've seen him throw to 1B thousands of times from SS, they weren't all smooth.

Feels like Bo saw a chance to take massive $$$ in short term with another chance to sign in 2028.

tired: the jays didn't sign bo bichette or kyle tucker

wired: neither the yankees nor red sox signed bo bichette or kyle tucker

Feels like there's nothing the Blue Jays could have done. Bichette had a chance to make $42M a year then sign another massive deal in three years. I'm sure the Jays offered a similar contract, but Bo decided it was time to move on.

It stings. I'll enjoy the memories. Wish him the best of luck.

Not getting either Kyle Tucker or Bo Bichette sucks but considering the Blue Jays won the pennant without them and just added the top pitcher on the free agent market, they’re still a favourite in the AL

Understandable. We forget he's already played seven full seasons in the Majors. Hope he continues to grow.

Sir, Guerrero Jr. just cemented his status with the Jays, as well as with the city of Toronto. Hasn't been a more beloved athlete in the 21st century. He also just showed the entire league who doesn't watch the team play that he has brilliant baseball IQ and sets the tone in the clubhouse.

Having gone to nearly 20 Jays game last season, I can confirm it was yelled multiple times a game, sometimes causing grins on the players.

I've been waiting to read this for a long time. @keeganmatheson.bsky.social wrote about the Jays in a way that often made me tear up and feel such love towards the team this past season, so I'm excited to get a whole book of his stuff to tide me over until the Grapefruit League starts. ⚾💙

NHL power rankings: What is the solution to the Leafs’ struggles? The Senators and Predators surge up the rankings, while the Blackhawks find themselves in familiar territory in last place.

"If Auston Matthews, the NHL’s only two-time 60-goal scorer of the 21st century, looks average in two seasons with the new coach, it’s time to get rid of the coach."

The latest edition of the @dailyfaceoff.bsky.social NHL power rankings #LeafsForever www.dailyfaceoff.com/news/nhl-pow...

I know some of the previous roman pontiffs would follow teams from back home. Wonder if Leo would be a “listen to games on the radio” type of guy.

If the only two-time 60-goal scorer of the 21st century looks like a generic top-six forward with the new coach, then get rid of the coach.

Carlos Delgado never got any respect and continues to not get any. Rare late 90s/early 2000s power hitter with zero ties to steroids. He was screwed because of where he spent the first 10 years of his career.

Sir, the city of Toronto is buzzing. Can’t remember the last time people were this happy, when strangers nodded at one another and everyone was more polite, even for Canadians. I just want to see one damn championship. Go Blue Jays.

I had many colleagues there covering the game for work. There were cheers. “Nah nah nah nah, hey hey hey, goodbye,” and all that.

“It All Disappears” One year ago, Gord Downie died. He was 53. There isn’t anything I could write in this space that hasn’t been said by millions who were touched by Canada’s most mythical figure, th…

We lost Gord Downie eight years ago today.

I wrote this seven years ago, fresh out of college and between bar shifts, on his Canadian legacy and my experience seeing one of The Tragically Hip's last shows in Toronto.

Sir, we’re here. Better than any NFL, NHL, college sport atmosphere. Can’t explain it. The Toronto fans, they deserve this.
