Been told that J.T. Miller's personal leave is not related to substance or alcohol abuse or anything at all like that.

It's about giving the player a chance to re-set himself mentally. We know he is obsessed with competing at 100 per cent and we can see he hasn't been. That's been weighing on him.

Success in sports can often be attributed to teams having the right timing of health & players firing on all cylinders. From a #Canucks POV right now, they’re missing Boeser, Demko and now Miller. Petey starts playing better, Miller’s play slumps off and now he’s out. Adversity testing this team.

JT Miller leave is about a player who needs a re-set.

Needs time and space.

Marcus Pettersson would be an upgrade on what the #Canucks  have, but the real needle-mover needs to be for a true RHD. Someone who plays behind (or above) Hronek, but above Myers. Would cost significant assets + move $ potentially closer to deadline for accrual reasons. Much easier said than done.

As I understand it, and have reported, Miller's been dealing with one thing or another all season (at one point I think there were three things at once).

Why hasn't he taken a break? Pride? Stubbornness? None of the ailments being *that* bad? Why are we suddenly talking about this now? Well...

It is very clear JT Miller has a lingering injury and he is definitely not 100%.

Why not just sit him and get him healthy.
