James Esses' how-to for "eradicating gender ideology from British society" essentially proceduralises the far right vision of eradicating trans life altogether.

Literally what a senior academic/line manager said to me once at 12 hours before a report deadline. (Note: this is in applied health research so it is not uncommon for junior researchers to be expected to simply do as they’re told)
Human in the genocide To the drone flying above, replaying a man's cry, "Help, I'm injured" in Libnan, or the wordless wail of a baby in Gaza, yes I know these people are most likely fictional traps to get one to crawl out of rubble and into a sniper's scope- you are asking, who will die for the chance to be human? And if no one answers, you will report: no people are left in the area, mission accomplished. Yet I have seen, over and over, my kin hurrying on hands and knees into death for the chance, however slim, to recover the buried, the brutalised and broken, with love in their hearts and a curse on their lips. Praise God! Praise God! We will never be defeated @omarsakrpoet
In these ghoulish tactics, we can see the true hate--how they fear and loathe our humanity, our legendary hospitality, our inexhaustible generosity, our dust-stained fingers, our calloused hands reaching again and again into the rubble. They aim to destroy humanity itself. They will not succeed.
Whatever else we think/know about universities, the term ivory tower should be banned. It makes me scream every time
This.
It's the standard Labour MO. A sop for those not affected to deflect from their cruelty to a minority, as I wrote last year.

A protest placard reading LIBERATION NOT SEGREGATION
Liberation not segregation

A state has comprehensively failed when it is unable to stop such ongoing fascist frenzy. There is no way for it to find a way out of/back from this from within itself
I don’t want to ask but do you have any more details?
AI does not enhance “efficiency.” AI is a permission structure for a totalizing regime of austerity and labor immiseration.
Photo of protest. A security guard stands on a banner reading Silence = Death, HRT saves lives. A protester lying on the floor holds up a placard that says, 48% of trans people have attempted suicide.
From Instagram - today the Dyke Project shut down NHS England HQ to protest the politically motivated ban on trans youth healthcare.
Has anyone written a review of the restructuring going on across UK HE? Trying to understand what is common across institutions: large, team-taught courses, centralised workload models, limited to no research time, promotion directly tied to grant income. How many consultancy firms are pushing this?
My god did we need this good news! #Gorton&Denton #VoteGreen
Yet another deadly Labour initiative: making the NHS accountable for patients' employment status and adding employment to Integrated Care Boards' performance targets. www.ft.com/content/6943...
It feels out of fashion but a reminder that if you want to be a woman you can just be one.
📢Wow community-led social justice oriented research on queer and trans healthcare klaxon
Fierce article from '24 where Andrea Long Chu calls for leaving behind appeals to gender identity & fighting for a revolutionary redistribution of sex itself: "the freedom to bring sex & gender into whatever relation one chooses" nymag.com/intelligence...
Palestine Action activists granted bail
Activists released on bail include four hunger strikers.

Exactly: what starts with removing trans people's healthcare does not end with removing trans people's healthcare 👇
Ah the UCL settlement. Lecturers still have it particularly bad: huge numbers of students, tons of admin, AI shit, having to substitute for non existent support all while the sector (frankly) collapses. I know lecturers who are v unwell & desperate. Workloads are completely unsustainable
I am so sorry. I don't know how this conversation started here but hope you are in a better place now
This is appalling. Currently facing end of contract myself after 14 years at KCL but I have never heard of an extension on a lower grade?! I thought this is not legal? did you involve the branch?
Yeah - also make sure you radiate optimism at all times while the world is burning
Once again Hilary Cass on the BBC weaponising notions of 'care' & 'best interests of the child' to insist (with no evidence) that only a tiny number of children presenting at gender clinics are 'really' trans & that 'locking them in' a trans trajectory is harmful. Trans eliminationism at its finest.
Utterly irredeemable and craven. Once again for those in the back: by recommending the undermining of trans research participants' self-determination, the Sullivan Review hollows out the principle of research participant self-determination for ALL, especially minoritised people
True words
An alarming and enlightening thread on the lack of democracy at UCU HQ: silencing & threatening those who dissent/call for accountability, as well as attempting to shut down solidarity from branches. We need to put an end to this
Omg Jay where?
Indeed Des
Forgive the inelegant interjection but: they are both addictive. Obviously. D'oh?
The recommendations of the Sullivan Review on paring back ethics committees' oversight & EDI guidelines/input on research have devastating implications for the place of research participant autonomy & self-determination. All those working on #ppi #coproduction #livedexperience should pay attention
