Two bills introduced to regulate pet stores, pet loans in Ohio Democratic State Representatives Lauren McNally and Michele Grim introduced two bills to prohibit loans to purchase pets, as well as restore local government authority to regulate the sale of pets.

Our bills protect pets and their families by banning predatory pet store loans and restoring the power of local communities to regulate pet stores and stop puppy sales. 🐾

Ohioans expect responsible, transparent practices when it comes to animal welfare. These bills help move us closer to that standard.

The second bill restores local control over pet stores. Communities should have the power to disallow puppy sales at pet stores and set standards that reflect their commitment to humane treatment.

The first bill bans predatory loans in pet stores - high-interest, often confusing financing that can burden families with unexpected costs.

Ohio lawmakers propose bill to protect patients from medical debt collections and wage garnishment The bill would prohibit medical debt from appearing on credit reports, ban wage garnishment and cap interest at 3%, down from the current 8%.

Medical care saves lives. Wage garnishment ruins them. It’s time to end wage garnishment for medical debt and to stop treating people like criminals because they got sick.
