When we look back at the energy transition in 20 years, failure to roll out simple air-to-air heat pumps may be one of the glaring mistakes

You could argue it was already a glaring mistake of the energy crisis, Norway rolled A2A heat pumps out since 2000

Two BloombergNEF charts next to one another, displaying results from BNEF's 2025 New Energy Outlook modelling in the Economic Transition Scenario. One shows global data-center power demand outlook by market to 2035 - a growth from 371 TWh in 2024 to 1,600TWh in 2035. The other chart shows selected drivers of overall electricity demand growth in this scenario from 2025 to 2035, showing that electric vehicle adoption is the largest, followed by data centers, then air conditioning, then heat pumps.

This does make data centers the second largest sector driver of electricity demand growth, after electric vehicles (which replace direct fossil burn). Nonetheless it's not a crazy high number in my opinion.

Unlinking electricity prices from gas ‘would cut energy bills’ Up to £2bn a year could be saved, says former government official, but the idea has been sidelined

Think tanks and others in the UK continue to push to decouple electricity markets and remove gas plants from setting marginal prices or split renewables into a separate market or whatever. www.thetimes.com/business-mon...

This makes very little sense to me...

PV for a neonatal unit. This must be one of the most effective aid projects conceivable, in terms of lives saved per $ spent. Any academics out there want to work on quantifying it?

Please RT.
