Just recorded a great pod, and I gotta say ... solar and batteries are going to win. They are the main dish. Everything else is a side dish. In 10 years, you won't be able to find anyone who disagrees with this.

For the first time ever, heat pumps outsold gas boilers in Germany in 2025.

48% of all new heating systems installed last year were heat pumps. Gas fell to just 39%. A decade ago, heat pumps had a 7% market share. The transformation has been remarkable.

This basic, elementary fact -- global energy markets 101 -- refutes basically the entire GOP energy policy & worldview.

The President of the United States is threatening to commit war crimes and wipe out a "whole civilization" — all because he started a disastrous war of his own making and had no plan and no strategy for how to end it.

This is abhorrent, and the American people do not support this.

These Republican Senators could have prevented this madness but chose not to

1) Issue ultimatum with demands that can't be met

2) Back down, which makes them think their counter threats worked and hardens their resolve, or unleash war crimes on civilians, which makes them think the threat is existential and hardens their resolve

3) Repeat step 1

Heating oil prices are sky-rocketing around the world.

The Nordics have understood the risks of using fossil fuels for heating early on and transitioned away from heating oil almost entirely whilst phasing in heat pumps.

Yes! I really liked it. It built an enormous world I got lost in, and slowly, of the course of the 700 pages, a new kind of world view and way of thinking entered my mind. Highly recommend.
