Many exports go to countries where high lead levels have been found in household paints and toys. Given these highly hazardous applications, we estimate that the volume of these exports is sufficient to expose hundreds of thousands of individuals to high lead levels.
In a new paper, we show continuing exports of lead paint pigment from countries including the US, Canada, the UK, and Spain, despite these countries placing strong restrictions (even bans in UK/EU) on its use in their own territories.
