More than 100 years on from the disappearance of George Mallory and Sandy Irvine, our new film, EVEREST REVISITED, uses their loss as the jumping off point for a wider look at the hidden histories of #Everest and what it means to visitors and Nepalis today.

Fidelity

Say the facts:
Someone decided not to choose you.
Someone decided not to fight for you,
turning from the wild colts of your broken heart.
Someone left your one life
on its knees.

What will you do
with those ruins? When Christ
knelt before his judges,
he didn't say a word to them,
a syllable.
He tried, he is still trying
to tell you: Your life
is the miracle
you think it is.
Give it to the ones who do believe.

—Joseph Fasano

Really? I much preferred the version we got! I love how understated it is. Best of the theme songs, IMO!

Another massacre by the Israelis in Khan Younis. I saw the videos and I think of the survey of Gazan children, the one that says that most of them expect death. Some of them just did, as the day before, as tomorrow. Israel continues its genocide, now in its 14th month, live-streamed for all to see.

My latest fixation is Oppenheimer and the history of quantum physics in the 20th c.

And true to my bio, this is definitely a dense tome coming in at over 700 pages

So sad to have missed this book launch! Had another event tonight. But can't wait to dive into Arendt's poems!

A few short ones are sampled in Elizabeth Young Bruehl's bio but nothing comprehensive!

Got my ticket to see Kieran's Broadway play this March! Wish I could see Snook in Dorian Gray a second time but tickets are so expensive.

I keep trying to write something eloquent and just being tired.
History matters. Philosophy matters. Languages and literature matter. Indigenous studies matter. Arts and humanities and social sciences matter. All of them.

Found myself thinking today that it’s odd Arendt never wrote about the Polish Solidarity movement only to quickly remember she tragically passed before getting to see it unfold! No doubt it would have fascinated her as much as the Hungarian uprising of 1956.
