Did I miss us signing Carlson? I thought two-way players couldn’t be in playoff games? He’s also in street clothes so I’m very confused. #thunder

@florgoth.bsky.social has the best music list I have found!
“Requiring artists to label their work as "made with AI" because they used an intelligent mastering assistant would mislead listeners into thinking the work was generated by AI … actively undermine the goal of honest representation.”
Thank you for this sensible and clearly stated delineation.

Cross posting here as Walrus Audio isn’t on Th’Sky just yet: some explorations with the DFX-1
This one uses short delay times with long feedback (which become note-rate oscillators) and then makes use of the delay subdivision options in the settings to make a pitch sequence of sorts
Also, you’re 100% correct in that my students who do not enjoy playing with software synths still light up when I bring in groove boxes and Korg Volcas.
I think you have the correct idea. In my music tech classes I use the delineation of hardware and software. If page or word count is a concern I would also probably use acronyms or jargon.
It’s crazy listening to records from two decades ago and hearing how much nothing is changed. That last line triggered thoughts of Broken Lungs-

I’m not on social media much so I tend to miss things like this in the moment, but this was a huge shock. Bo and Colin’s podcast really helped me reconnect with hardcore music over the past few years, and I’ve come to love Harm’s Way as a result. He went too soon.

I assume you took the first opportunity to say-
“Actually son, the Taco Bell bell is a product of years of research by John Chowning, who invented FM synthesis, who licensed it to Yamaha, giving us the blessed DX7.”
My methodology draft was sent to my advisor this evening and I know that’s a very small chunk of the work that remains but it’s been a rough six months and I need to celebrate the small victories.
Another big announcement this week: Josh Trentadue did a FANTASTIC arrangement of my orchestra piece Boss Fight for Concert Band! Give it a listen here:

Four sessions is a marathon! Congratulations!
Purcell, OK has added 6 miles of mountain bike trails to the western side of Purcell Lake and they are well maintained and fun! Worth the trip out to small town Oklahoma.
Way more jumps than I was expecting, and some sections were loose, but everything is rollable if you go slow.
Excited to announce I’ll be co-presenting at the Instrumental Music Teacher Educators conference on how live coding in Strudel affects preservice music teachers’ perceptions of tech in the music classroom. Marcis and I will be teaching live coding in the same session. See you there!

Daughter just hit me with the
“If two vegans are fighting do you still call it ‘beef?’” 😂
@florgoth.bsky.social this new record from “fill in the lake” seems right up your alley-

Not to mention how if you have multiple language keyboards installed iOS will rañdómly switch between them sometimes.
Hello everyone! I am supervising a Master's thesis around gatekeeping practices in college music education. If you are a professor of music or music education, please consider taking this 10 minute survey to support this important work: berklee.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_...
Holy nostalgia. I played that same cymbal pack all the way through high school.
I appreciate it. The split has been kind of confusing in general, especially with MacOS prioritizing Max 9 over 8 and launching Live any time I open a patcher unless I open standalone first or select “open with.”
This is cool, but kind of inaccessible to the average tinkerer. As a person with a license for Max 8, but also Live 12 with Max for Live 9, the thought of having to pay to upgrade Max and also buy RNBO to make stuff is a lot? Or am I misunderstanding the license structure here?

Who could’ve predicted?
The impostor phenomenon only gets worse the further you go. I’m on a research study right now w/ 2 folks where I must read books/papers constantly just to understand what is said in our meetings. “My PhD program is a fake PhD program” is something I’ve said a lot… Despite attending a good R1. Lol
Done!
Very glad that I went back to this one, because it's excellent!
It's a pretty fresh take on PostMetal, with melodies that wouldn't be out of place in MetalCore songs.
The album keeps building itself into a crescendo, which is always a nice touch!
Highly, highly recommended!
This album rules! Thanks for the rec!
Oh no Karl. I’m so sorry for your loss!
Oh man, 1994 you were still dealing with THAC0. My students thought critical threat and confirming the crit were old school.
Congrats!
