Tile sign in Union Square station was missing the last tile for months with the last letters written in black marker on bare wall; somebody added PANTS so the stop is now Union Squarepants. You kind of had to be there tbh

if your favorite author is outed as a sexual predator and you come online talking about β€œits important to separate the art from the artists” i think you need to log off and never come online again

These women would appease and rationalise and try to convince themselves and others that there was not a rape. Nobody wants to be raped. To the point where victims will often try and think their way out of having been. Rapists take advantage of that. The article shows this in black and white.

Actually, this is why I think the detail that article went into was good, actually. And why I suspect that Gaiman's victims felt similarly. It's important for people to see the reality of rape, and how coerced and rationalising technicalities are pathetic sophistry in the face of it.

Impossible to read Emilia Perez's award season as anything other than an enormous fuck you to the greatest year of trans cinema ever and a clear statement that trans people are not supposed to make art we're supposed to be the subjects of racist caricature

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

It’s cool that humans have been eating bread so long that when we touch a loaf for a moment we can sense ah this is going to be awful bread. Like badgers sensing vibrations underground through their claws.

Yes! Benefits of the US being basically a gaggle of independent countries. NY has put a ton of protections into law, there's limits to what can be taken away on a Federal level.

They are. The healthcare they get here was recently banned in the UK. Saw it coming a mile away, same as Brexit. For now, we're all safer and have a better chance of thriving here, even as The Horrors persist.

I couldn't bear my kids having to pray every day at school. Almost my whole family worked for the NHS, as did I. Among other things. Of course now we'd never come back permanently, they can no longer get the life-saving healthcare they need in England.

Federal Court Rules In Favor of Forcibly Detransitioning Transgender Inmates In Florida Incarcerated transgender people were a major topic of debate in the 2024 elections. Now, a judge ruling on a Florida policy shows how cruel abandoning trans people in prison can be.

A federal court has ruled that Florida can detransition inmates.

Some trans inmates are having estrogen pulled, hair shorn, and put through state-run conversion therapy.

This is the cruelty of abandoning incarcerated trans people.

The bottom line is that if public health had stopped lying years ago and had been honest about the costs, and if public health had realized what the correct approach is, which is to slow evolution down, then we would have been in a situation today where public health was treating COVID as a disease that needs to be suppressed.
The whole canard from day one was that we would never eliminate or eradicate it, so, let's let it spread as widely as possible. "Learn to live with it," for other diseases doesn't mean the same thing as we have applied to COVID. When we say we must learn to live with leprosy, we don't mean let's make sure everybody has leprosy. When we say we must learn to live with malaria, we don't mean let's make sure everyone gets malaria as often as possible, let's keep mosquitoes lurking in our tanks outside our house. No one says you must learn to live with tuberculosis. Let's let it spread as much as possible and see how that goes.
No, we suppress those diseases every step along the way. We suppress dengue. We suppress tuberculosis.
This whole idea that learning to live with the disease means permitting and encouraging its rampant spread and rapid evolution is just so many levels of stupidity that I don't have a word for it.

I found a loose gem on the floor and put it in my diamond art gem tray last night. Today, in daylight, with my glasses on, I saw it's actually a dead bug.
