I just use the basic 4000 model cutter. I duct-tape my t-square to my drawing desk to use as a guide and go to town

"x is here to stay" has become so pervasive among the grifter class that I can't read past the phrase due to the fact that my eyes are rolling so hard

"Measles is here to stay."
"Digital dementia in children is here to stay."
"Pulling extra hard on hangnails is here to stay."

"Here to stay" has been 💩fucking cringe💩 (for a while now!) and everyone needs to stop saying it unless it's about a dog. That is all.

A digital painting of Orick, a Sasquatch wearing an orange scarf and carrying a hot drink of some kind, walking between some trees and saying "boo" to classic movie monsters Nosferatu, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and a werewolf, who cower in fear and run away.

A digital illustration showing a Sasquatch reading a book in his cave with his friends, a mountain lion asleep next to the fireplace, and an extraterrestrial laying on a rug watching The X-Files on an iPad. The cave is illuminated by the fire in the fireplace, candles, lamps and glowing crystals. Above the fireplace is a framed portrait of a Sasquatch ancestor. In the background is a bookshelf and a staircase.

Hi, I'm Brian, and here's my digital portfolio for #portfolioday, which comprises mostly of my webcomic "Orick & Argyle," about a Sasquatch and an extraterrestrial who team up to commit acts of civil disobedience in defense of nature.

Copyright law recognizes fair use, and education is fair use. A student can use someone else's intellectual property for educational purposes. But a student can't copy someone else's art, sign their own name on it, sell it or lead others to believe it's their original work. That's still plagiarism.

No human who is feeding other people's work into an image generator is learning to make anything.

High quality plagiarism is still plagiarism. If you're prompting AI to spit out slop and it happens to end up looking really good, that means your AI used a whole bunch of art created by a whole bunch of really good human artists.

Human beings aren't eggs and societies aren't omelets. You don't get to make other people acceptable losses in your society building. That's not how it works.

Title page for my graphic-novel-in-progress. The title text, "Will-o'-the-Wisp," glows green above the illustration. Leona (the mountain lion), Argyle (the extraterrestrial), Orick (the Sasquatch) and Ursula (the human person) leading the group with a flashlight, walk down a set of stairs in a cave lit by purple light.

"Will-o'-the-Wisp" is about a spooky light Ursula sees in the woods outside her trailer one night. She and Orick, Argyle, and Leona set out to discover the truth about the ghost light. But they're not alone; malevolent Sasquatches called wood devils are also hunting the Will-o'-the-Wisp. Ursula and her friends must catch up to the light before the wood devils do.

The first half of the novel is free to read here: https://brianrwilliams.com/will-o-the-wisp.html

The Supreme Court did not strike down conversion therapy bans today.

Not nationwide. Not in Colorado. Not anywhere.

Here's what actually happened in Chiles v. Salazar—and why the coverage you're seeing serves the conservative legal movement more than it serves you.

Poster titled, "Creature From Somewhere in the Midwest," a spoof on movie posters for Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Under the poster title text, a green, friendly-looking creature with gills, a pink snout, two arms, and six human feet is smiling and saying, Midwesternly, "Ope! Lemme just scootch past yah." He is holding a red plastic party cup and is wearing a yellow novelty t-shirt that reads, "It's Wine O'Clock."

Funny you mention that -- there's literally no receipt. Congress didn't ratify Ohio's constitution in 1803. It was an oversight, but it means that Ohio was technically still a territory up until 1953, when legislation was passed that retroactively granted Ohio statehood in 1803.

“3 AM”
giclée art print

It’s 3 AM in suburbia and someone is still awake. A silhouetted cat sits on a windowsill behind open blinds peering out at a mysterious nighttime world. This is her favourite post in the house. From here she can look out over the expansive lawn and clipped hedges. Her humans have long since gone to bed. There is streetlight shinning on the house, hedges and lawn. She’s hoping to see something - anything - move about in the shadows. She listens intently for any rustle in the leaves, snap of a twig, or scampering over the grass. For now, all is silent except for the faint rush of a passing car. The night belongs to her.

I've drawn this in ballpoint pen in a very fine, wispy cross-hatching style trying to achieve that vague, mysterious tonality seen at that hour. I take a lot of walks late at night, and this is a home l've passed several times, complete with the lit window. I always imagine a cat sitting there, and the beauty is that I can make it so.

This is a companion piece of sorts with “The Yearning for Adventure”, also available in my Etsy shop.
