Hi, it's me. A guy with a chronic illness who is apparently muddying up our risk pool. It's really uplifting to know that according to my government, my death would be a net benefit for others by lowering their costs.

"This is an important thing to think about."
Every example used to push the "men are lonely" narrative makes me think "no, men are not lonely enough."

Trump foreign policy boils down to causing massive disasters, then inventing some bullshit story and letting guys like Ron Johnson flesh it out on Fox News, and then hoping nothing else happens ever
Of all the Donald Trump tweets Speaker Mike Johnson won't see, today's will be the one Speaker Mike Johnson didn't see the most.
He means it this time.
Soon to be appearing in midterm political ads for Democratic candidates nationwide. Thanks, Darnold. 🙏
"I think we should invest in our own people," says the toady from the administration that has slashed billions of dollars in federal funding for colleges and universities.
The biggest story in the world right now is that the president of the United States is a demented old man who takes pleasure in torturing and killing people and is committing crimes with impunity. And yet most legacy media outlets are too cowardly to tell it like it is.
never forget when the Easter Bunny sent Teddy Roosevelt to the shadow realm
NYT: Iran War Live Updates: Trump Escalates Threat to Hit Iranian Power Plants After U.S. Rescues Downed Airman President Trump used an expletive-laden social media post to taunt Iranian leaders, saying that the United States would attack if they did not fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
NYT: President Trump on Sunday escalated his threats to bomb Iranian power plants within the next two days and taunted the country’s leaders in an expletive-laden social media post. Mr. Trump, seemingly emboldened by the successful U.S. rescue of an American airman in Iran over the weekend, issued a new ultimatum to Iran to end its chokehold over the Strait of Hormuz, a major Persian Gulf waterway for the transport of oil and gas, by Apr. 6. If Iran’s government did not, he said, U.S. forces would target the country’s energy infrastructure, which supplies power for millions of civilians. “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!!” Mr. Trump wrote on social media. The president has previously postponed his deadline to attack twice and the Omani foreign ministry said on Sunday that officials had discussed how to reopen the Strait of Hormuz with Iranian counterparts without reaching a definitive agreement.
“Praise be to Allah,” Mr. Trump added, before signing off in all caps. Iran has threatened to retaliate by intensifying its attacks on critical infrastructure in Israel and Arab states that are allied with the United States. An escalation could further derail the lives of civilians throughout the region and add to worries about the global economy, which has been rattled by soaring energy prices since the start of the war. Over the past two days, the U.S. military has been in a race with Iranian armed forces to find the missing airman after an F-15E jet was shot down over Iran on Friday, in the first known instance of a U.S. combat aircraft since the start of the war. The plane’s pilot was quickly rescued. But a second officer was stranded in Iran and injured in the incident. American commandoes found the airman deep inside Iranian territory under the cover of darkness.
The New York Times deleted Trump’s “open the fuckin’ strait” line to make him look less insane
Their write-up falsely says his post says only “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!!” and “Praise be to Allah”
I wonder if there was some sort of reason the Founders routed the war power through Congress rather than the whim of one person. Probably not.
Has anyone studied the psychic toll of years spent waking up to the unhinged rantings of a vicious madman who could kill us all — and then going about one’s day per usual?
The CDC has paused testing for rabies and pox viruses.
It's vital we keep a close eye on them as rabies is virtually 100% fatal without vaccination, and smallpox killed hundreds of millions (we really don't want a similar virus returning).
Losing track of these viruses is a recipe for catastrophe.
growing longer. One person close to the White House told us that Trump was buoyed by the reaction to his decision to remove Noem and that it made him more likely to move ahead with Bondi. (Still, an administration official cautioned that after Noem’s ouster, optics were a concern; officials worried that getting rid of Bondi would be viewed as jettisoning only the most “attractive” women, while keeping the men.)
Well, they made it weird www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...
We should ALL be saying it.
Of course. Trip Gabriel, NYT
A remarkable AP photo of a protester dressed as Lady Liberty being cuffed by helmeted cops. She is looking straight at the camera with a tired "you seeing this shit?" expression.

I don’t love being in a society where you can sell enough pillows to do meaningful damage to democracy or sell enough children’s books to do a genocide or sell enough chicken sandwiches to abolish gay marriage
That all seems like a ridiculous way to do society to me
